To report the incidence, patterns of care, and outcomes of oligometastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in a rural practice setting in Norway. ⋯ Oligometastatic NSCLC was diagnosed in a relevant proportion of patients; therefore, warranting prospective studies are recommended. Such studies are also needed to confirm the treatment-dependent survival differences observed in our patient population.

The World Health Organization asserts that oral health is a basic human right, yet this is a right enjoyed by few. Oral disease is a major problem in high-income countries, where the cost of treating oral diseases often exceeds that for major non-communicable diseases. In low-to-middle income countries, oral diseases are a severe and growing public health problem. ⋯ Three key challenges have been identified, namely gaps in knowledge and an insufficient focus on social policy, the separation of oral health from general health, and inadequate evidence-based data. Ten key research priorities have been identified with due regard to the differing needs of the variety of global health care systems, and a set of prioritized outcomes and a timeline for implementation have been defined. In the wider context of the proposals set out above, five immediate priorities for action have been proposed.

To examine the reasons for resistance to treatment in cases of palmoplantar psoriasis, and also to compare the frequency of delayed-type hypersensitivity to common sensitizers with those cases of psoriasis without palmoplantar involvement. ⋯ Secondary fungal infection, allergic contact dermatitis to topical agents or common allergens, or at times an unusual reaction to the antipsoriatic therapeutic agents sometimes led to treatment failure in patients with psoriasis vulgaris with palmoplantar lesions. Also, psoriasis patients with palm and sole lesions tended to have higher rates of contact hypersensitivity than patients without lesions on their palms and soles.

This study sought to (1) analyze the demographic profile of patients who completed combined orthodontic and surgical treatments at the Kuwait Ministry of Health dental clinics, (2) evaluate the source, type, amount and timing of preoperative patient information, (3) determine posttreatment patient satisfaction and (4) examine whether patient satisfaction is associated with preoperative information. ⋯ The patients who underwent orthognathic surgery were satisfied and generally well informed. However, information regarding surgical risks and functional discomforts was not adequate. Participants were more likely to be satisfied when they were provided with more information about discomfort and surgical risks.

To investigate the frequency of metabolic syndrome and its components in subjects with β-thalassaemia minor. ⋯ No association was found between β-thalassaemia minor and metabolic syndrome despite insulin resistance, which was shown in subjects with β-thalassaemia minor.
