CircHIPK3 Promotes Thyroid Cancer Tumorigenesis and Invasion through the Mirna-338-3p/RAB23 Axis.
Objective:Thyroid cancer is a common type of endocrine malignancy, and its incidence has been steadily increasing in many regions of the world. Numerous studies have found that the circRNAs in various cancer types are aberrantly expressed, which could be potential biological diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of circHIPK3 in the development and progression of thyroid cancer and its mechanism. ⋯ Then, we demonstrated that circHIPK3 up-regulated the expression of its target gene RAB23 by sponging miR-338-3p to promote the tumorigenesis and invasiveness of thyroid cancer. This study is the first to find that circHIPK3 plays the role of oncogenetic circRNA in thyroid cancer, which may provide new insights into how circRNA affects the progression of thyroid cancer. Our study also showed that circHIPK3 could be a novel biomarker for thyroid cancer.

Ego-resiliency is attributed the status of a "meta resource" that is responsible for a flexible selection of coping strategies depending on the requirements of a specific difficult situation. A considerably burdensome critical life event is the development of a chronic illness such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Apart from coping with the symptoms, a fundamental task confronting patients is maintaining their quality of life. This raises the question of whether ego-resiliency serves as a mediator between coping strategies and quality of life. ⋯ Our observations partly support the assumption about a controlling role of ego-resiliency in the process of selecting coping strategies according to demands of situations.

The problem of high systolic blood pressure (sBP) combined with low diastolic blood pressure (dBP) requires attention because sBP is directly and continuously related to the most important criterion, i.e., all-cause mortality, whereas dBP becomes inversely related to it after the age of 50-60 years. The European Society of Cardiology and European Society of -Hypertension (ESC/ESH) 2018 guidelines for hypertension (HTN) are helpful because they recommend a lower safety cut-off for in-treatment dBP. To prevent tissue hypoperfusion, these guidelines recommend that dBP should be ≥70 mm Hg during treatment. ⋯ The dilemma about whether or not to treat isolated systolic hypertension (SH) patients with low dBP (<70 mm Hg) is evident from the fact that almost half (45%) remain untreated. This is a common occurrence and identifying this problem is the first step to solving it. We suggest that an adequate search and analysis should be performed, starting from the exploration of the prognosis of the isolated (I)SH subset of patients with a very low dBP (<70 mm Hg) at the beginning of already performed randomized clinical trials.

Epstein-Barr Virus Infection and Increased Sporadic Breast Carcinoma Risk: A Meta-Analysis.
An association of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection with breast carcinoma (BC) risk has so far been disputed in the literature. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to clarify this relationship. ⋯ The current results suggest that EBV infection is significantly associated with increased risk of BC.

There is an increased incidence of thyroid nodules and cancer. In this article, the reasons for this increase are evaluated and discussed. The factors causing increases in the incidence of nodules are the same as those causing increases in thyroid cancer. ⋯ This paper has described many of the factors causing this higher incidence. Of note, metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance are important factors associated with the increased incidence of nodular goiter and papillary thyroid cancer today. However, these data must be confirmed by other studies in the future.
