We aimed to determine the quality of life (QoL) of Kuwaiti adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) who used continuous subcutaneous insulin infusions (CSIIs) and to understand their perception of this treatment. ⋯ The identified themes highlight the complexity of the experiences of participants, and can be used to provide a framework to help healthcare providers understand how people with T1DM become aware of their treatment regimens. It is important to identify the positive aspects of CSII and not focus only on its negative effects.

Perception and Attitudes of Dental Students towards Their Role in the Delivery of a Brief Smoking Cessation Intervention.
An assessment of dental students' attitudes and perceptions towards smoking, and their role in smoking cessation, needs to be understood to develop an effective training program in smoking cessation counseling. The aim of the study was to understand attitudes, perceptions, and knowledge of students towards their role in smoking cessation, to understand students' self-reported requirements in relation to skills and knowledge prior to training, and to understand students' self-reported learning from training. ⋯ Students need more client-centered skills and knowledge to bolster their confidence in cessation counseling.

The element iodine is an essential nutrient utilized by the thyroid glands, and deficiency of this element has been linked to reproductive failures. Iodide transporters are also present in reproductive tissues and cells of embryonic origin such as the endometrium and trophoblasts, respectively. The aim of this study is to understand if levels of iodide transporters are linked to pregnancy outcomes. ⋯ These findings suggest possible abnormal iodine metabolism and a deficiency of iodine in endometrial tissues from some of the women with reproductive failures. We hypothesize from these findings that inorganic iodide and/or iodine is required for optimal cellular function in reproductive tissues, and that iodide transporters may potentially be used as a marker for infertility or for probing potential localized iodine deficiency that may not present in a typical thyroid panel analysis.

We aimed to observe the relationship between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-[OH] D) and different cognitive domains, and to evaluate the predictive value of 25-(OH) D level for cognitive impairment in patients with white matter lesions (WML). ⋯ We observed that vitamin D deficiency is associated with multiple areas of cognitive impairment and that it is an independent risk factor for cognitive impairment in WML.

Pecha Kucha with Part-Task Training Improves Airway Management in Fresh Frozen Cadavers: A Case-Control Observational Study.
The objective of this study was to ascertain whether the addition of part-task training as a step in Pecha Kucha for fiberoptic tracheal intubation increases the success rate and reduces the complication rate. ⋯ In addition to the Pecha Kucha method in fiberoptic intubation training, simulation-based part-task training appears to increase the success rate and to reduce the complication rate on fresh frozen cadavers.
