Burnout among emergency medical practitioners and personnel negatively affects career satisfaction and job performance and can lead to mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and suicide. ⋯ Results of this study suggest that it is not yet clear which factors are salient contributors in demonstrating the relationship between burnout and job satisfaction. This study may draw attention to a better understanding of this relationship will help enable health care administrators to design and implement tools to help increase job satisfaction and decrease burnout as a combined goal rather than treat each issue separately.

To investigate three different distraction methods (distraction cards, listening to music, and distraction cards + music) on pain and anxiety relief in children during phlebotomy. ⋯ Pain and anxiety relief was seen in all three methods during phlebotomy; however, no statistically significant difference was observed.

To explore the relationship between direct-breastfeeding in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and breastfeeding duration after discharge. ⋯ Direct-breastfeeding in the NICU may play an essential role in preparing mothers for breastfeeding after discharge, thus potentially impacting breastfeeding duration.

Surrogate decision makers of seriously ill patients are frequently asked to make healthcare decisions without evidence-based decision support. ⋯ Surrogate decision makers of the seriously ill are not prepared for their new role, and experience decisional and emotional burden. Effective decision support interventions must address the decisional and emotional needs of surrogate decision makers to enhance the quality of their decisions.

Screening rates for DKD in primary care are low, even though diabetes accounts for 44% of all new kidney disease cases. The purpose of this project was to determine if a primary care team for the underinsured improved screening and diagnosis of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) after initiating a quality improvement (QI) process. ⋯ Implementing a QI process in underinsured primary care centers improved the compliance of proper screening and diagnosing DKD AND introduced inter-professional practice competencies and teamwork strategies not previously recognized at the centers.
