Second primary malignancies (SPMs) account for an increasing proportion of human malignancies. We estimated the incidence, risk factors and outcomes in lymphoma survivors with SPMs. ⋯ With the improvement of medical standards, the survival of lymphoma patients has been prolonged. However, the incidence of SPM is increasing, particularly among men and older lymphoma survivors. Therefore, more attention should be invested in the SPM to further improve the prognosis of these patients.

Predicting acute exacerbations (AEs) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is crucial. This study aimed to identify blood biomarkers for predicting COPD exacerbations by inflammatory phenotypes. ⋯ Our study indicates that distinct white blood cell profiles in COPD patients, with or without eosinophilic inflammation, can help assess the risk of AE in clinical settings.

In earlier studies, the health benefits of physical activity have only been related to leisure time physical activity (LTPA). High occupational physical activity (OPA) might even be harmful. The current physical activity recommendations do not separate the OPA and LTPA. We investigated the effect of LTPA and OPA on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality during long-term follow-up. We also examined how heavy work affects the benefits of leisure time exercise. ⋯ Study subjects who were in physically demanding occupations (heavy OPA) seemed to benefit from less LTPA than WHO currently recommends. Thus we suggest targeting different LTPA recommendations to different OPA groups.

Most infectious diseases are caused by viruses, fungi, bacteria and parasites. Their ability to easily infect humans and trigger large-scale epidemics makes them a public health concern. Methods for early detection of these diseases have been developed; however, they are hindered by the absence of a unified, interoperable and reusable model. This study seeks to create a holistic and real-time model for swift, preliminary detection of infectious diseases using symptoms and additional clinical data. ⋯ The graph-based MLP and RF models effectively diagnosed influenza and hepatitis, respectively. This underlines the potential of graph data science in enhancing ML model performance and uncovering concealed relationships in the MKG.

Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is a serious public health issue. Dietary changes form the core of MetS treatment. The adherence to dietary recommendations is critical for reducing the severity of MetS components and preventing complications. However, the adherence to dietary recommendations was not adequate among adults with MetS. This study utilizes the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW) to develop an individualized WeChat mini program-based behavioural change intervention aimed at strengthening adherence to dietary recommendations in people with MetS. ⋯ The BCW theory helped scientifically and systematically develop an individualized WeChat mini program-based behavioural change intervention for individuals with MetS. In the future, our research team will refine and upgrade the WeChat mini program and then test the usability and effectiveness of the individualized WeChat mini program-based behavioural change intervention program.
