Castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) represents one type of advanced prostate cancer (PCa) with a median survival time of 1-2 years. Currently, there is a lack of reliable gene panels in predicting hormone treatment (HT) responses due to limited knowledge of CRPC-specific tumor-microenvironment (TME) characteristics. ⋯ Based on these unique TME characteristics of CRPC, we established a prediction tool for estimating the duration of HT responses in PCa treatment. Our results suggest mechanisms by which prostate cancer becomes castrate resistant. Further study of PEG10 (and/or others) to evaluate therapeutic efficacy should be considered.

Workplace violence in healthcare settings is a significant public concern that profoundly impacts healthcare workers. However, there is a dearth of knowledge regarding the prevalence of workplace violence and its correlation with suicidal ideation among undergraduate medical students in China during their clinical training. The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of workplace violence inflicted by patients or their family members/visitors and to assess its association with suicidal ideation among undergraduate medical students. ⋯ The prevalence of workplace violence inflicted by patients or their family members/visitors was high among undergraduate medical students in China. This may be associated with their mental distress and suicidal ideation. Consequently, it is crucial to strengthen workplace safety measures and promptly implement interventions to mitigate the potentially serious consequences.

Clinical value of serum miR-1-3p as a potential circulating biomarker for abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Although abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is associated with life-threatening complications, there are still limited reliable biomarkers for diagnostic purpose. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been proposed as the potential diagnostic and risk stratification markers of AAA patients, and we aim to evaluate the serum level of miR-1-3p and its diagnostic value in AAA. ⋯ MiR-1-3p can be used as a promising circulating biomarker in the development of AAA, and it may participate in multiple biological processes to play a crucial role in AAA pathogenesis.

The multi-country mpox outbreak across the globe has led to the systematic surveillance of mpox cases in India. During the surveillance of mpox, we encountered cases of Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) in suspected mpox cases amongst children & adults. This study focused on the genomic characterization of VZV in India. ⋯ Although the circulation of different clades of VZV was reported from India, the presence of clade 9 was detected for the first time during the mpox surveillance.

Objective: To compare the anaesthesia methods in percutaneous nephrolithotomy in terms of safety and effectiveness in elderly men. Methods: Elderly male patients who had undergone percutaneous nephrolithotomy were screened retrospectively and divided into 2 groups: percutaneous nephrolithotomy under combined spino-epidural anaesthesia (Group CSEA, n = 70) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy under general anaesthesia (Group GA, n = 114). Preoperative, perioperative and postoperative outcome measures were examined. ⋯ Conclusion: The type of anaesthesia does not affect the success rate and complication rate of percutaneous nephrolithotomy in elderly male patients. Patients who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy under CSEA needed less analgesic injection during the postoperative period. CSEA can shorten the time a patient spends in the operating room and PACU, which provides more effective use of operation room working hours.
