To investigate the risk factors for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in children with osteomyelitis and provide diagnostic and treatment strategies for the prevention, early detection and treatment of DVT. ⋯ Admission to ICU, sepsis, higher D-dimer, higher body temperature during hospitalization, and MRSA are risk factors for thrombosis. MRSA is the independent risk factor for DVT. For patients with related risk factors, timely ultrasound examination of the infected site should be considered to achieve early detection and treatment.

The treatment of Colorectal cancer (CRC) is extremely complex and survival rates vary depending on the stage of the disease at the time of diagnosis. Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT), is the conventional treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC); however, the resistance to chemoradiotherapy in LARC is difficult to predict. ⋯ We found that the expression of ZNF281 predicted the radiation response of CRC cells and suggested the prognosis of patients with LARC who received neoadjuvant radiation therapy.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are revolutionizing human activities in various fields, with medicine and infectious diseases being not exempt from their rapid and exponential growth. Furthermore, the field of explainable AI and ML has gained particular relevance and is attracting increasing interest. ⋯ For example, they have been employed or proposed to better understand complex models aimed at improving the diagnosis and management of coronavirus disease 2019, in the field of antimicrobial resistance prediction and in quantum vaccine algorithms. Although some issues concerning the dichotomy between explainability and interpretability still require careful attention, an in-depth understanding of how complex AI/ML models arrive at their predictions or recommendations is becoming increasingly essential to properly face the growing challenges of infectious diseases in the present century.

Objective: Treatment with c-kit-positive cardiac cells (CPCs) has been shown to improve the prognosis of ischemic heart disease. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) confer protection by enhancing the cardiac repair process, but their specific functional mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to screen for differentially expressed miRNAs in CPCs under hypoxia and explore their effects on the function of CPCs. ⋯ In contrast, the conditioned media of CPCs with silenced miR-210-3p after hypoxia decreased the proliferation, migration, and tube-forming ability of CMEC. Conclusions: The CPCs exert proangiogenic effects via paracrine pathways mediated by miR-210-3p. Upregulation of miR-210-3p in hypoxia-treated CPCs may enhance their paracrine function by regulating the secretion of angiogenic factors, thereby promoting angiogenesis in ischemic heart disease.

Resveratrol (RSV) that possesses anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and pro-angiogenic effects is an effective drug for diabetic wound (DW), while its pharmacological mechanism remains to be elucidated. In this study, we apply network pharmacology and experimental validation approach to reveal the potential mechanism of RSV against DW. ⋯ This study initially revealed the biological mechanism of RSV for treating DW through multi-target and multi-pathway. AGE-RAGE, FoxO, MAPK, PI3K-AKT and other signalling pathways may be the main pathways of RSV in treating DW. RSV reduces the inflammatory response by inhibiting the AGE-RAGE signalling pathway, which in turn promotes DW healing.
