Aim: The lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is a new device that expands the scope of gastrointestinal intervention under endoscopy. LAMS was initially used for the treatment of pancreatic fluid collections (PFCs), but is increasingly being used off-label. The electrocautery system simplifies the deployment of LAMS, making it more suitable for off-label situations. ⋯ Results: ECE-LAMS are widely used for on-label and off-label situations. The short-term and long-term results of ECE-LAMS are satisfactory, but there are still some studies that do not agree with this viewpoint. Conclusion: The clinical application of ECE-LAMS is relatively safe and reliable but more well-designed randomized trials and prospective studies are needed to evaluate the impact of this technology on therapeutic EUS, to improve the safety and success rate of EUS-guided LAMS implantation, and to expand its application in other indications.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide and it involves various biomolecular and cellular levels. CRC has possibly happened due to aging, urbanization, and diet. Different foods have varying effects on the gastrointestinal cells, that's why additional research is necessary to create effective medical interventions. ⋯ Study results showed that a healthy diet such as fruit and vegetables is the best diet for improving colorectal cancer outcomes. Moreover, nutritional status affected CRC patients' outcomes, where high BMI increases the risk of having CRC. However, low BMI was associated with CRC progression and poor quality of life.

Prognostic role of the controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score in patients with biliary tract cancer: a meta-analysis.
Previous reports have not reached consistent results regarding the prognostic significance of the controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score in biliary tract cancer (BTC). Therefore, the present meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the precise role of the CONUT score in predicting the prognosis of BTC. ⋯ Higher CONUT scores significantly predicted worse OS and RFS in patients with BTC. Moreover, BTC patients with high CONUT scores tended to have poor tumor differentiation. The CONUT score could help clinicians stratify high-risk patients with BTC and devise individualized treatment plans.

Background: COVID-19 continues to present challenges in the care of older adults with frailty and/or comorbidities and very old patients, who can be hospitalized with severe COVID-19 despite full vaccination. Frailty is a heterogeneous syndrome characterized by an increased aging-related vulnerability due to a reduced physiological reserve and function of systemic organs, and is associated with an impairment of activities of daily living. ⋯ Persistent symptoms are another emerging problem of the post-vaccination phase of pandemic, as most patients suffer from chronic symptoms which can become debilitating and affect the daily routine. Aim of this review: In this complex relationship, the evaluation of COVID-19 in vulnerable categories is still a matter of high interest and personalized care plans based on a comprehensive geriatric assessment, tailored interventions; specific therapeutic algorithms among older adults are thus recommended in order to improve the outcomes.

Exercise-based rehabilitation in and with nature: a scoping review mapping available interventions.
Exercise is an effective component in rehabilitation of a range of chronic conditions. There is a growing interest in the use of exercise-based nature interacted rehabilitation (EBNIR), but an overview of current evidence is missing. The objective of this scoping review was to map existing exercise-based rehabilitation interventions conducted with incidental or intentional nature interaction focusing on its populations, types of outcomes, and theoretical rationale for people with physical and mental disabilities. ⋯ This scoping review presents an overview of limited and diverse evidence within the field of EBNIR, in patients with physical or mental health conditions. Our review provides an overview that will be helpful in the design of future EBNIR trials.
