The nomenclature of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) currently is blurred, indistinct and no accurate and haven't been properly updated since the first description, which is far from being suitable for the current implementation of clinical practise and scientific research of ALS, and urgently need an solution. Furthermore, the current diagnostic criteria need also further been improved, because the current clinical diagnosis of ALS majorly depends on the clinical manifestations yet. Up to now, no any objective clinical auxiliary examination can be helpful to diagnose ALS besides the electromyogram identifying the lower motor neuron damage, which isn't conducive to early diagnosis and prolongs the time of ALS confirmed diagnosis. In this mini review, we discussed the current doubt about the nomenclature and diagnostic criteria of ALS, and prospected in order to further improve and normalize the nomenclature and diagnosis of ALS.

Osteoarthritis (OA), which is characterized by pain, inflammation and pathological changes, is associated with abnormal lipid metabolism. Extensive studies have been conducted on the potential functions of lipids including cholesterol, fatty acids (FAs) and adipokines. ⋯ Alterations in lipid or adipokine levels and the resulting pathological changes in cartilage and other tissues (such as bone and synovium) ultimately affect joint pain, inflammation and cartilage degradation. Lipid or adipokine regulation has potential as a future direction for the treatment of OA, this potential avenue of OA treatment requires high-quality randomized controlled trials of combined lipid regulation therapy, and more in-depth in vivo and in vitro studies to confirm the underlying mechanism.

Inflammation responses have identified as a key mediator of in various liver diseases with high morbidity and mortality. cGAS-STING signalling is essential in innate immunity since it triggers release of type I interferons and various of proinflammatory cytokines. The potential connection between cGAS-STING pathway and liver inflammatory diseases has recently been reported widely. ⋯ Furthermore, many inhibitors of cGAS-STING signalling as promising agents to cure liver inflammation are also explored in detail. A comprehensive knowledge of molecular mechanisms of cGAS-STING signalling in liver inflammation is vital for exploring novel treatments and providing recommendations and perspectives for future utilization.

Relationship between platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and early rebleeding after endoscopic variceal ligation: a bicenter retrospective study.
Endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) is the primary treatment for esophageal variceal bleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis (LC). Postoperative rebleeding is a complication of EVL, contributing to over 20% of bleeding-related deaths. This study aims to examine the association between platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and rebleeding within 6 weeks after EVL in patients with LC. ⋯ Our results have the potential to aid in the identification of high-risk patients for early rebleeding after EVL, thereby enabling improved clinical management and outcomes for these individuals.

Abdominal imaging and endoscopic characteristics of adult abdominal IgA vasculitis: a multicenter retrospective study.
IgA vasculitis (IgAV), previously known as Henoch-Schönlein purpura, is an IgA-mediated systemic small vessel vasculitis that tends to be more severe in adults than in children. Early diagnosis of IgAV involving the gastrointestinal tract remains difficult, especially in patients who present with gastrointestinal symptoms before purpura. This study aims to systematically analyze the abdominal imaging and endoscopic features of adult patients with abdominal IgAV, providing assistance to clinicians in the early recognition of this condition. ⋯ The most common symptom in adult abdominal IgAV patients is acute abdominal pain. In the early stage of the disease, most patients exhibit elevated levels of WBC, NLR, CRP, D-dimer, and fibrinogen, along with decreased albumin level. The duodenum and ileum are the most commonly affected sites. By integrating these findings, clinicians can identify abdominal IgAV patients earlier and more accurately.
