Submucosal fibrosis is associated with adverse events of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). The present study mainly aimed to establish a predictive model for submucosal fibrosis in patients with early gastric cancer (EGC) undergoing ESD. ⋯ The predictive models, initially constructed in this study, were validated as convenient and feasible for endoscopists to predict submucosal fibrosis and severe fibrosis in patients with EGC undergoing ESD.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an alternative modality to hemodialysis (HD) for end-stage Kidney disease (ESKD) treatment. However, PD is underutilized, and patients' knowledge about PD is crucial in making an informed decision about the dialysis modality. This study aims to evaluate the knowledge about PD among HD patients and explore the reasons for its underutilization. ⋯ This study highlights the inadequate knowledge about PD among HD patients and identifies factors contributing to the underutilization of PD. Lack of information, misconceptions about the effectiveness and safety of PD, and preference for HD were significant barriers. Enhancing patient education and addressing misconceptions are crucial in promoting PD as a viable treatment option for ESKD, thereby improving patients' quality of life.

Dupilumab has been approved for the treatment of severe asthma with type 2 inflammation by inhibiting interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13 signaling. However, dupilumab-induced hypereosinophilia (HE) has been reported and should not be ignored. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of dupilumab in Chinese patients with severe asthma, whether HE affects its efficacy, and the possible risk factors for HE. ⋯ This study demonstrated that dupilumab was efficacious in Chinese patients with severe asthma, and some patients developed asymptomatic, self-limited HE, which did not affect its efficacy. Additionally, FeNO ≥60 ppb, food allergens positive, and co-morbidities with EOM may be the risk factors for developing HE.

To determine the incidence rates (IRs) of catastrophic injuries and exertional medical events in lacrosse athletes. ⋯ The incidence of catastrophic events during lacrosse was higher among collegiate than high school or youth athletes. SCA from an underlying cardiac condition or from commotio cordis was the most common catastrophic event. Fatality rates from catastrophic injuries have declined significantly over the study period, perhaps driven by protective measures adopted by lacrosse governing bodies.

Pragmatic Clinical Trial
Tofacitinib is an effective treatment for moderate to severe ulcerative colitis, and intestinal ultrasound can discriminate response from non-response: a pragmatic prospective real-world study.
Real-world data on tofacitinib's effectiveness is limited and mainly retrospective or registry-based. We elected to conduct a pragmatic prospective study to assess the efficacy of tofacitinib for moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC), aiming to evaluate the ability of intestinal ultrasound (IUS) to discriminate responders vs. non-responders in real-time. ⋯ In this real-world pragmatic prospective study, tofacitinib was an effective treatment for moderate to severe UC, and IUS at week 8 accurately discriminated treatment response from non-response.
