This study aimed to identify the prevalence and distribution of high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) types among Kazakhstani women with abnormal cervical cytology. ⋯ There is a high prevalence of HR-HPV types among Kazakhstani women with abnormal cervical cytology. The most identified types were HPV16, 18, 31, 33 and 52. There is an emergency need to implement an HPV vaccination program to prevent cervical lesion development.

Introduction: Adverse effects of opioids are common among older individuals, and undertreatment as well as overuse can be an issue. Epidemiological data on opioid use in older individuals are available, but scarce in hospitalized patients. Aims: The aim of this study is to examine the one-day prevalence of opioid use among older inpatients and identify the factors associated with both opioid use and dosage. ⋯ Conclusions: One in four patients received opioid treatment. It is not clear whether this reflects under- or overtreatment, but these results can serve as a benchmark for geriatric units to guide future pain management practices. The utilization of transdermal fentanyl and buprenorphine, resulting in higher doses of morphine equivalent, poses significant risks for side effects.

At the beginning of December 2022, the Chinese government made major adjustments to the epidemic prevention and control measures. The epidemic infection data and laboratory makers for infected patients based on this period may help with the management and prognostication of COVID-19 patients. ⋯ The laboratory model established in this study showed high discrimination, calibration, and net benefit. It may be used for early identification of severe patients with COVID-19.

Cell death modulates the biological behaviors of tumors. However, the comprehensive role of the multiple forms of cell death in lower-grade glioma (LGG) is unknown. ⋯ The new cell death-based subtype system indicates several features of LGG biology and reveals novel insights into the use of precision medicine for treating LGG. The CDPM score could be used to predict the immunotherapy response and prognosis of LGG patients; moreover, it could indicate a novel direction for improving LGG management.

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is characterized by unilateral or bilateral ventricular enlargement and reduced ventricular systolic function, with or without heart failure. In previous studies, we found that a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or chronic bronchitis is a high risk factor for DCM combined with pulmonary hypertension (PH). Therefore, we propose that the comorbidity of COPD or chronic bronchitis will increase the cardiogenic mortality of patients with DCM. ⋯ Comorbid COPD or chronic bronchitis increased the risk of cardiac death among DCM patients with an intermediate or high PH probability.
