To evaluate the findings and the correlation of optical coherence tomography angiography and pattern and flash electroretinography in diabetes mellitus without retinopathy. ⋯ OCTA revealed decreased superficial vascular densities with the onset of the metabolic process of diabetes mellitus. As a result of these structural changes, lower scotopic and photopic amplitudes, decreased OP amplitudes, and prolonged implicit times in flash ERG were obtained.

Tinnitus is a prevalent and disabling condition characterized by the perception of sound in the absence of external acoustic stimuli. The hyperactivity of the auditory pathway is a crucial factor in the development of tinnitus. This study aims to examine genetic expression variations in the dorsal cochlear nucleus (DCN) and inferior colliculus (IC) following the onset of tinnitus using transcriptomic analysis. The goal is to investigate the relationship between hyperactivity in the DCN and IC. ⋯ Our findings reveal gene expression alterations in neuronal excitability within the DCN and IC when comparing the tinnitus group to the non-tinnitus group at the transcriptome level. Additionally, the enriched signaling pathways related to changes in synaptic plasticity in the differentially expressed genes within the DCN suggest that the excitability changes may propagate to IC.

Shenghui Yizhi Decoction (SHYZD) has exhibited the capacity to enhance cognitive function and learning abilities in individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (AD) while ameliorating pre-existing neuroinflammation. Nevertheless, the precise mechanism underlying its therapeutic effects on AD remains to be elucidated. ⋯ In summary, the specific molecular mechanisms through which SHYZD alleviates AD and the potential role for SHYZD in the NF-κB/NLRP3 signalling pathway are identified in this study.

Methodology for the selection and evaluation of outcomes for Chinese herbal injection in acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD): a comprehensive study.
To develop a comprehensive framework for selecting outcomes in evaluating the clinical efficacy of Chinese herbal injections and to scientifically select outcomes for the clinical randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Tan-Re-Qing injection intervening AECOPD. ⋯ The findings contribute to developing a robust and reliable trial design for Tan-Re-Qing injection in AECOPD. The methodology employed in this study ensures a systematic and comprehensive approach to the selection of outcomes for the clinical evaluation of future studies in this field.

Febuxostat provides renoprotection in patients with hyperuricemia or gout: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
It is unknown whether febuxostat can delay the progression of kidney dysfunction and reduce kidney endpoint events. The aim was to evaluate the renoprotective effect of febuxostat in patients with hyperuricemia or gout by performing a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ Febuxostat use is associated with a reduced risk of kidney events and a slow decline in eGFR. In addition, the urine albumin to creatinine ratio decreased in febuxostat users. Accordingly, it is an effective drug for delaying the progression of kidney function deterioration in patients with gout.Systematic review registration: PROSPERO CRD42021272591.
