Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare acquired disease characterized by chronic complement-mediated hemolysis. The concentrated outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in China after 6 December 2022, provided an opportunity to observe the disease course of PNH during an active Omicron infection epidemic. ⋯ Omicron infection exacerbates hemolytic attacks in patients with PNH. Vaccination helps mitigate the severity of Omicron infection, and using complement inhibitors reduces hemolysis exacerbation.

The effect of hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication during pregnancy on the outcomes of pregnancies remains to be elucidated. ⋯ Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the association between maternal HBV replication status and perinatal outcomes. Pregnant women with HBV replication face an increased risk of caesarean section, and their infants appear to have a higher risk for neonatal jaundice.

The prognostic factors for patients with pure ovarian immature teratoma (POIT) and the role of adjuvant chemotherapy in stage IA G2-G3 and IB-IC POIT remains controversial. ⋯ Positive postoperative TM and FIGO stage II-IV were the prognostic factors for POIT. Active surveillance in stage I POIT of any grade may be practical for those with negative postoperative TM.

Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a distinctive and severe syndrome, marked by an excessive systemic inflammatory response. In vivo, interleukin 8 (IL-8) is an essential pro-inflammatory cytokine. We aimed to investigate the value of serum IL-8 levels in predicting mortality in ACLF patients in the background of hepatitis B virus-related cirrhosis. ⋯ Serum IL-8 levels predict short-term mortality in ACLF patients in the background of HBV-associated cirrhosis, and the developed Nomogram model has strong predictive power and good clinical utility.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have achieved substantial advancements in clinical care. However, there is no strong evidence for identified biomarkers of ICIs in NPC. ⋯ Immune checkpoint inhibitor treatments significantly changed the levels of SII, NLR, PLR, LCR and LMR in NPC patients treated with immunotherapy. A lower baseline SII and a higher baseline LMR, and a reduction in SII and an elevation in LMR after immunotherapy are favorable factors for predicting survival among advanced NPC patients.
