Detailed analysis targeting B cell subgroups was considered crucial in monitoring autoimmune diseases and treatment responses. Thus, precisely describing the phenotypes of B cell differentiation and their variation in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is particularly needed. ⋯ Our study presented a reliable analysis by flow cytometry to cover the principal B cell subtypes. These different stages of B lymphocytes may have implications for evaluating the activation of pSS and other autoimmune diseases and treatment efficacy.KEY MESSAGESB cell subsets play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) and other autoimmune diseases. A practical and accurate flow cytometry method to profile B cell phenotypes in peripheral blood of healthy adults is especially essential.Additionally, we presented reliable reference ranges for B cell subsets in regards to the local population. Age- and gender-related analyses are available to better understand their influence in immune status and treatment outcome. The distribution of B-cell subsets is found substantially altered in patients with pSS, bringing novel avenues for pSS research in the future.

Hyperinflammation-induced respiratory failure is a leading cause of mortality in COVID-19 infection. Immunosuppressants such as, Baricitinib and interleukin inhibitors are the drug-of-choice to suppress cytokine storm in COVID-19. Here, we compared the therapeutic safety and efficacy of triple-immunosuppressants with dual-immunosuppressants in patients with severe-to-critical COVID-19. ⋯ Triple-immunosuppressants in severe-to-critical COVID-19 infection exhibited better clinical outcome; reduced ICU and MV requirement; shorter hospital stay with deceased 60-day all cause mortality and re-hospitalisation compared to dual-immunosuppressants.

To analyze the correlation between the inducing effect of Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn) on the surface expression of the inhibitory receptor KIR2DL1 on CD8+ T cells in oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and the clinicopathological features and survival prognosis and to explore its clinical significance. ⋯ Long-term drinking and smoking lead to an extremely unhealthy oral environment in which Fn infection and colonization are more likely to occur, thus inducing high expression of KIR2DL1 on the surface of CD8+ T cells, which can weaken the antitumour immune response and promote the malignant progression of ESCC.HIGHLIGHTSFn induced high expression of KIR2DL1 CD8+ T cells in a time-dependent manner.Fn can reduce the response of tumour cells to CDDP.The inducing effect of Fn on CD8+ T cell surface KIR2DL1 expression was significantly associated with the poor prognosis of ESCC patients.

Outcome for dizzy patients in a physiotherapy practice: an observational study.
Dizziness is a common reason for referral to physiotherapy. Additional information on clinical characteristics, treatment effect and prognostic indicators in physiotherapy practice are needed. ⋯ Clinical evaluation and treatment in physiotherapy practice can be an effective and safe option for patients with dizziness. Several clinical variables with prognostic values were identified.Key messagesClinical evaluation and treatment in physiotherapy practice can be part of low threshold care for dizzy patients.Despite prior medical screening, one-third of patients without signs of BPPV were sent back for further evaluation, illustrating the need for interdisciplinary collaboration.Based on the description of the dizziness symptom (vertigo rather than light-headedness), provocation of the dizziness by movements, and a short duration of the dizziness attack, and positive clinical vestibular tests, BPPV treatment could be initiated.

The aim of the present study was to detect the association between platelet glycoprotein-specific autoantibodies and the patient response to short-term high-dose dexamethasone (HD-DXM) + prednisone maintenance treatment. ⋯ The present study discovered that adult patients newly diagnosed with ITP who had positive platelet glycoprotein-specific antibody test results were likely to achieve a better response after treatment with HD-DXM + prednisone maintenance.
