Lung ischaemia reperfusion injury (LIRI) is the major cause of primary lung dysfunction after lung transplantation. Lipoxin A4 inhibits the oxidative stress and inflammation. This study aimed to evaluate the potential protective effect of lipoxin A4 on LIRI in rats. ⋯ Lipoxin A4 protects LIRI after lung transplantation in rats, and its therapeutic effect is associated with the properties of anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, and endothelium protection.Key messages:Lung transplantation is a treatment approach for the patients with lung disease.LIRI is the major cause of postoperative primary lung dysfunction.Lipoxins A4 exhibits strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep and memory disturbance. There is no definitive cure yet for FM-related health problems. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor's (PPAR's) activation is associated with insulin sensitisation and improved glucose metabolism. PPAR-γ was reported to alleviate FM allodynia. Limited data are discussing its effect on motor disorders. ⋯ PPAR-γ agonists show a promising role against FM-associated motor dysfunctions.

Introduction: Recently, zein-coated MgO nanowires were synthesized, which could be promising as an effective antimicrobial compounds that can be combined in the preparation of a diversity of new dental formulations. However, there is a deficiency of information concerning their toxicological profile regarding the human health. Objective: This in vivo study aimed to explore the hepato- and nephrotoxicity of low versus high doses of zein-coated MgO nanowires in rats. ⋯ KEY MESSAGESMgO NPs are globally used in multiple fields including the therapeutic field. Zein has wide pharmaceutical applications especially coating the tablet over sugar. There are no cytotoxic studies that investigate MgO-zein nanowires safety until now.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is characterized by severe local and systemic inflammation. Ac2-26, an Annexin A1 Peptide, can reduce the lung injury induced by reperfusion via the inhibition of inflammation. The present study aims to evaluate the effect and mechanism of Ac2-26 in ARDS. ⋯ Ac2-26 reduced the lung injury induced by LPS, promoted alveolar-capillary permeability, ameliorated the local and systemic inflammation, and inhibited the oxidative stress response and apoptosis. The protection of Ac2-26 on ARDS was mainly dependent on the FPR pathway.

Leptin in breast milk play a significant role in metabolic programming. ⋯ This study was determined that leptin levels in breast milk and maternal serum were related to anthropometric measurements of both mothers and infants. Future studies with larger populations are needed to understand the long-term consequences of leptin metabolism comprehensively.Key messagesThis study was determined that breast milk leptin level and maternal serum leptin level demonstrated a positive correlation, and breast milk leptin level was lower than maternal serum leptin level.Mothers' anthropometric measurements were positively correlated with leptin levels in breast milk and maternal serum in all the months. There was mostly a negative correlation between breast milk leptin level and infant body weight.
