The association between excessive serum total bile acid (TBA) and adverse perinatal outcomes in individuals with non-intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (non-ICP) hypercholanemia has not been determined, and it is unclear if this link is similar to that observed in patients with ICP. ⋯ If a pregnant woman has moderate-to-severe liver disease and TBA ≥ 100µmol/L, preterm termination of pregnancy (before 34 weeks) may be considered.

This study aimed to re-evaluate whether the scoring systems, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) were effective in predicting prognosis and severity of COVID-19 patients in the emergency department (ED). ⋯ The NEWS and CCEDRRN COVID-19 Mortality Score were reconfirmed for early and rapid predicting the poor prognosis and severity of COVID-19 patients in ED, especially the CCEDRRN COVID-19 Mortality Score with the highest discrimination capacity, and NLR was more appropriate for predicting the severity.

Ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure adversely impacts child airway health; however, research on prenatal PM2.5 exposure, and child lung function is limited. We investigated these associations in the ECHO-PATHWAYS Consortium, focusing on the role of exposure timing during different phases of fetal lung development. ⋯ We did not find strong evidence of associations between prenatal ambient PM2.5 exposure and child lung function in a large, well-characterized study sample. However, there was a suggested adverse association between FEV1 and exposure during late pregnancy. The saccular phase of lung development might be an important window for exposure to PM2.5.

As the burden and distribution of calcification within chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions can be diverse, its effect on CTO recanalization using multiple devices and techniques is debatable. This study investigated the role of calcification in wiring-based intraplaque tracking techniques for CTO recanalization. ⋯ Using intraplaque guidewire tracking, calcification was unfavorable for very difficult CTO lesions, and caused prolongation of angioplasty time for lesions with moderate complexity. This suggested that the role of calcification in the J-CTO score could be altered when different recanalization techniques were applied for CTO interventions.

This study aimed to explore the value of preoperative total parathyroid volume (TPV) as a marker for predict recurrence of renal secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). ⋯ According to the data in this study, it can be said that TPV can be used to distinguish recurrence from no-recurrence. Most importantly, TPV can be used to identify SHPT recurrence.
