Drug resistance is a challenging problem in the clinical chemotherapy of gastric cancer. Identification of predictive biomarkers for chemotherapy outcomes could improve therapeutic efficacy and patient prognosis. This study aimed to assess the significance of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC02323 in gastric cancer progression and neoadjuvant chemotherapy and to explore its potential regulatory mechanism. ⋯ Upregulated LINC02323 expression in gastric cancer is associated with malignant progression, adverse prognosis, and chemotherapy resistance. Silencing LINC02323 could enhance the sensitivity of gastric cancer cells to 5-FU by negatively modulating miR-139-3p expression.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) presents a severe respiratory challenge with a poor prognosis due to the lack of reliable biomarkers. Recent evidence suggests that Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress (ERS) may be associated with IPF pathogenesis. This study focuses on uncovering ERS-associated biomarkers for IPF. ⋯ This study identifies ERS-related biomarkers in IPF, highlighting SPP1 and M2 macrophages. The resulting diagnostic and prognostic models offer strong predictive capabilities, unveiling new therapeutic avenues.

Headgear designed to protect girls' lacrosse athletes is widely available and permitted for voluntary use; however, it remains unknown how policies mandating headgear use may change the sport and, particularly regarding impacts during game-play. Therefore, this study compares the impact rates and game play characteristics of girls' high school lacrosse in Florida which mandates headgear use (HM), with states having no headgear mandate (NHM). ⋯ These findings demonstrate that mandating headgear use was associated with a two-fold greater likelihood of sustaining a head impact during game play compared to NHM states. A majority of head impacts in both HM and NHM states were caused by illegal stick contact that did not result in penalty.

The prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotype and cervical neoplasia in women older than 64 years, who are outside the age demographic of cervical cancer screening in China, has been under-researched. This study conducts a retrospective analysis of women from a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou, with the aim to offer valuable insights for cervical cancer prevention and control in elderly women. The study incorporated 876 women, all aged 64 and above. ⋯ In conclusion, the burden of HPV infection is significant among women over 64 years in Guangzhou. Re-evaluation of cervical cancer screening strategies for women after the age of 64 is imperative. Moreover, the HPV 16/18/52/58 genotype model could serve as an alternative triage approach to identify histological CIN2+ among elderly women with HPV-positive/NILM status.
