Nontuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease (NTM-PD) exhibits clinical and radiological characteristics similar to those of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). This study aimed to develop a novel hematological score (HS) and its related nomogram model to identify NTM-PD in patients with suspected multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis (SMDR-PTB) due to lack of response to first-line anti-TB treatment (ATT). ⋯ HS may be a useful biomarker for identifying NTM-PD in patients with SMDR-PTB. The HS-based nomogram model serves as a convenient and efficient tool for guiding the treatment of SMDR-PTB patients.

To outline the prevalence of vitamin D and vitamin B12 deficiencies in enuretic children. ⋯ Low levels of vitamin D and B12 were detected in children with primary nocturnal enuresis, which could be considered a burden on the clinical severity of enuresis.

Ischaemic encephalopathy is a common cerebrovascular disease caused by insufficient blood supply to the cerebral vessels. The ischaemic encephalopathy is closely associated with the development of many chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes. Neurotrophic therapy has become the main therapeutic strategy for ischaemic encephalopathy. However, neurotrophic drugs only slightly recover the neurological function of patients, and their long-term efficacy is uncertain. Previous reports revealed that the active ingredients of natural medicines play important roles in the treatment of cerebral ischemia. In this study, we reviewed clearing herbs with anti-ischaemic encephalopathy functions using the data from quantitative statistical and network pharmacological exploration methods. We also discussed the different bioactive components and pharmacological effects of these herbs. ⋯ Heat-clearing herbs are useful and promising for the protection against and prevention of ischemic encephalopathy. The results of the network pharmacological studies are similar to the mechanisms of anti-ischemic encephalopathy of the active ingredients of the purgative herbs we have listed; Thin either directly protects cerebrovascular tissues by improving vascular permeability and reducing the area of infarcted tissues, or produces protective effects through molecular signaling pathways. It can be seen that the components of heat-clearing Chinese medicines can exert cerebroprotective effects through multiple pathways, which provides us with a reference for further development and study of heat-clearing Chinese medicines in the treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases.

Maintenance therapy promotes profound organ and haematologic response in light-chain amyloidosis patients not undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation.
Evidence on maintenance therapy following frontline induction is sparse in primary light-chain amyloidosis (AL), especially for those who do not undergo autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT). ⋯ This study identified the clinical benefits of maintenance therapy in patients with AL who did not undergo ASCT in real-world practice.

To investigate the most common causes of death and trends in cause-specific long-term mortality in patients hospitalized for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). ⋯ This study revealed consistent CVD and IHD long-term mortality and increasing trends in long-term cancer mortality in patients post-AMI. Thus, post-AMI patients should emphasize tertiary prevention of CVD by minimizing risk factors. Furthermore, patients should regularly undergo cancer screening programs. The reasons for the unfavorable development in terms of increasing cancer mortality should be investigated in further studies.
