We aimed to evaluate the role of bone scintigraphy (BS) which has long been the imaging modality of choice in prostate cancer (PCa) and performed a head-to-head comparison between BS, BS + SPECT/CT and 68 Ga-PSMA-PET/CT, for the detection of bone metastasis of PCa. ⋯ This study has shown that 68 Ga-PSMA PET/CT overcomes the limitations of BS and proves superiority in detecting bone metastases, even in patients with SPECT/CT. Our findings present important implications that 68 Ga-PSMA PET/CT can replace BS in future practice.

The functional imaging methods widely used for the diagnosis of Lewy body disease (LBD) are 123I-N-ω-fluoropropyl-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-iodophenyl) nortropan (FP-CIT) with dopamine transporter single photon emission computed tomography (DAT-SPECT) and 123I-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) myocardial scintigraphy. The aim of this study was to determine whether DAT-SPECT or 123I-MIBG myocardial scintigraphy should be examined first and to evaluate whether the combined use of DAT-SPECT and MIBG myocardial scintigraphy is superior to using either modality alone for diagnosing suspected LBD. ⋯ In the diagnosis of LBD, DAT-SPECT, MIBG myocardial scintigraphy, and Combined index may be reliable indices. In particular, MIBG myocardial scintigraphy was the specific modality for LBD diagnosis. Understanding the effectiveness and limits of DAT-SPECT and MIBG myocardial scintigraphy and using both properly will lead to a more accurate diagnosis and better treatment.

To evaluate the value of Bayesian penalized likelihood (BPL) reconstruction for improving lesion conspicuity of malignant lung tumors on 18F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography computed tomography (PET/CT) as compared with the ordered subset expectation maximization (OSEM) reconstruction incorporating time-of-flight (TOF) model and point-spread-function (PSF) correction. ⋯ BPL reconstruction significantly improves the detection of small inconspicuous malignant tumors in the lung, improving the diagnostic performance of PET/CT.

To investigate the superiority or contribution of 5th minute pelvic and 2nd hour whole body Gallium68-prostate-specific membrane antigen-HBED-CC [(68Ga)PSMA 11] Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) images to 1st hour imaging in patients with prostate cancer (PCa). ⋯ In conclusion, the 5th minute pelvic images in (68Ga)PSMA 11 PET/CT were helpful in visual evaluation of the prostate gland and bed, while 2nd hour images showed high SUVmax and TBR rates in malignant lesions. As the SUVmax values of benign lesions were found to be lower in the 2nd hour, when compared to the 1st hour, it was thought that the 2nd hour imaging could be used in the additional imaging for suspicious lesions without the need for very long waiting times.

To evaluate the role of 68Gallium prostate-specific membrane antigen-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT) derived quantitative volumetric tumor parameters in comparison with fully diagnostic conventional CT and serum-PSA levels for classification and evaluation of therapeutic response of bone metastases in patients with metastasized prostate cancer (PC). ⋯ Our results suggest that 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT might be a valuable tool for the detection and follow-up of bone metastases in patients with metastasized prostate cancer. 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET-derived quantitative volumetric parameters demonstrated a highly significant correlation with changes of serum-PSA levels during the course of therapy. No such correlation could be determined for bone density measurements of metastatic bone lesions. Compared to the fully diagnostic CT scan, a significantly higher proportion of bone metastases was detected on 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET.
