This study examines various options that a faculty member might exercise to achieve work-family balance in academic medicine and their consequences for academic advancement. ⋯ Policy changes, such as a prorated tenure track, are needed to support a family-friendly culture with flexibility throughout the career lifespan for both men and women medical faculty.

This article explores the commitment of faculty to ethics training in psychiatric education. Although psychiatry has insufficiently addressed the profession's need for ethics training in education, program directors acknowledge its critical importance, and its positive impact has been demonstrated. Additionally, residents often seek ethics training as part of their instruction. ⋯ Specific recommendations are provided.
