Use of Diffusion-Weighted Imaging and 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography Combined With Computed Tomography in the Response Assessment for (Chemo)radiotherapy in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Our purpose was to assess the diagnostic accuracy and prognostic value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) carried out 3-6 months after (chemo)radiotherapy in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. ⋯ For response evaluation of the primary tumour 18F-FDG-PET/CT only is the preferred strategy, whereas for the neck a sequential approach including both DWI and 18F-FDG-PET/CT resulted in the best diagnostic accuracy for follow-up after (chemo)radiotherapy. Qualitative analysis of 18F-FDG-PET/CT is a stronger predictor of RFS than DWI analysis.

Practice GuidelineGuideline for the Initial Management of Small Cell Lung Cancer (Limited and Extensive Stage) and the Role of Thoracic Radiotherapy and First-line Chemotherapy.
We investigated the efficacy of adding radiotherapy to chemotherapy in patients with extensive stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) and the appropriate timing, dose and schedule of treatment for patients with ES-SCLC or limited stage SCLC (LS-SCLC). ⋯ In patients with LS-SCLC (stage I, II and III), the addition of thoracic radiotherapy to standard chemotherapy is recommended. However, there is no clear evidence to inform definitive recommendations for optimal timing, sequential versus concurrent therapies and optimal dose or regimen. In patients with LS-SCLC, etoposide-cisplatin is the preferred regimen for adults who are being treated with combined modality therapy with curative intent. In patients with ES-SCLC (stage IV), there is insufficient evidence to recommend the addition of thoracic radiotherapy to standard chemotherapy as a standard practice for survival benefit; however, it could be considered on a case-by-case basis to reduce local recurrence. In patients with ES-SCLC, a platinum agent plus etoposide is the preferred regimen for adult patients who are being treated with combined modality therapy. Cisplatin and irinotecan represents an alternative treatment option to this, but is associated with increased rates of adverse events such as diarrhoea.

Radiation Therapy as an Alternative Treatment for Desmoid Fibromatosis.
To determine the outcome after radiation therapy for desmoid fibromatosis. ⋯ Radiation therapy is an alternative treatment in the management of desmoid fibromatosis. It should be considered in patients for whom surgical resection is not feasible, or as adjuvant therapy after surgery with involved margins where any further recurrences would cause significant morbidity.

Current and Future Challenges of Radiation Oncology in Iran: A Report from the Iranian Society of Clinical Oncology.
Growth of the cancer incidence rate in Iran has been very high in recent years. Therefore, the Iranian health care system should be prepared for the treatment of a huge number of patients in the foreseeable future. One of the most important treatment options for cancer is radiation. However, there is no comprehensive information on infrastructure for radiation oncology in this country. ⋯ There is a significant gap between Iran's available facilities for radiation therapy and international standards. Moreover, during international economic sanctions against Iran this gap widened.
