Cardiovascular outcomes and mortality after incident ischaemic stroke in patients with a recent cancer history.
Up to 10% of patients with ischaemic stroke have comorbid cancer and stroke in these patients is thought to have a poor short-term prognosis. There is little known about the long-term cardiovascular morbidity and mortality outcomes after incident ischaemic stroke in patients with recent cancer history. ⋯ After incident ischaemic stroke, patients with recent cancer history have a lower risk of composite MACE and recurrent stroke outcomes but a higher risk of all-cause mortality when compared with patients without a prior history of cancer.

Meta AnalysisActive fluid de-resuscitation in critically ill patients with septic shock: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To evaluate the impact of active fluid de-resuscitation on mortality in critically ill patients with septic shock. ⋯ We found no evidence for superiority of active fluid de-resuscitation compared to usual care regarding mortality, fluid balance or patient-centred outcomes in patients with septic shock. Current evidence is limited by the lack of high-quality RCTs in patients with septic shock, the small sample sizes and the heterogeneity of the applied de-resuscitation techniques. In addition, validity of the majority of RCTs is compromised by their inability to achieve fluid separation.

ReviewReshaping care in the aftermath of the pandemic. Implications for cardiology health systems.
In the last two years, the COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably changed everyday life and significantly reshaped the healthcare systems. Besides the direct effect on daily care leading to significant excess mortality, several collateral damages have been observed during the pandemic. The impact of the pandemic led to staff shortages, disrupted education, worse healthcare professional well-being, and a lack of proper clinical training and research. In this review we highlight the results of these important changes and how can the healthcare systems can adapt to prevent unprecedented events in case of future catastrophes.

Associations of relative fat mass, a new index of adiposity, with type-2 diabetes in the general population.
Relative fat mass (RFM) is a novel sex-specific anthropometric equation (based on height and waist measurements) to estimate whole-body fat percentage. ⋯ RFM is strongly associated with new-onset T2D and displays the potential to be used in the general practice setting to estimate the risk of future diabetes.

Impact of adherence to EULAR quality indicators on the quality of life of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
Quality indicators (QIs) for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) management based on the 2019 update of European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) recommendations have been recently proposed. We aimed to determine whether adherence to QIs was associated with patient reported outcome (PRO). ⋯ Our study confirms a variable degree of clinicians' adherence to QIs for SLE and shows no clear association between QIs adherence and patient reported outcome. Adherence to QIs by physicians are not enough to impact the quality of life of patients.
