Observational StudyCharacteristics and outcomes for general anesthesia in Denmark.
General anesthesia is common, but concerns regarding post-operative complications and mortality remain. No study has described the Danish patient population undergoing general anesthesia on a national level. The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics and outcomes of patients undergoing general anesthesia in Denmark. ⋯ This study offers the first comprehensive overview of adult patients undergoing general anesthesia in Denmark. Post-anesthesia complications were few and increased with ASA classification.

Effects of IV fluid restriction according to site-specific intensity of standard fluid treatment-protocol.
Variation in usual practice in fluid trials assessing lower versus higher volumes may affect overall comparisons. To address this, we will evaluate the effects of heterogeneity in treatment intensity in the Conservative versus Liberal Approach to Fluid Therapy of Septic Shock in Intensive Care trial. This will reflect the effects of differences in site-specific intensities of standard fluid treatment due to local practice preferences while considering participant characteristics. ⋯ The European Clinical Trials Database (EudraCT): 2018-000404-42, ClinicalTrials. gov: NCT03668236.

More than just joy: A qualitative analysis of participant experiences during nitrous oxide sedation.
Nitrous oxide use is shifting from general anesthesia to sedation and pain control. Interest in novel uses of nitrous oxide in psychiatry is also growing. Thus, understanding the consequences of using nitrous oxide remains relevant. Previous quantitative research might not have fully captured the whole spectrum of nitrous oxide, whereas qualitative analysis can provide a more comprehensive description. This qualitative study aims to describe the subjective experiences of nitrous oxide use in healthy volunteers who have no prior history of recreational substance misuse. ⋯ Experiences under nitrous oxide sedation are extremely variable and not always pleasant. These findings can improve our understanding of the likes/dislikes of patients undergoing nitrous oxide sedation. Further qualitative studies should focus on the experiences of other groups, such as children or women in labor.

Complete blood count, coagulation biomarkers, and lung function 6 months after critical COVID-19.
Understanding the recovery of post-COVID-19 organ dysfunction is essential. We evaluated coagulation 6 months post-COVID-19, examining its recovery and association with lung function. ⋯ Only a few patients had normal CBC and coagulation biomarker values 6 months after critical COVID-19. A weak negative correlation between DLCOc% and FVIII suggests that deranged coagulation activity may be associated with reduced diffusing capacity.
