Case ReportsAutoimmune hemolytic anemia with myelodysplastic features followed by bilateral adrenal non-hodgkin lymphoma: a case report and review of the literature.
Primary adrenal lymphoma is a rare entity characterized mainly by bilateral involvement, presenting predominantly diffuse large B-cell histology, adrenal insufficiency and poor prognosis. Approximately 85 cases have been described in the literature. We report here a case of a 77-year-old man who presented with autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), which preceded the diagnosis of lymphoma by more than 2 years. ⋯ He received hormonal replacement and chemotherapy, but he succumbed to his disease because of sepsis and multi-organ failure a few days post diagnosis. To our knowledge, this is the first case in the literature in which AIHA preceded bilateral adrenal lymphoma. We also provide a summary of the current data for the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of primary adrenal lymphoma.

Case ReportsLethal pulmonary hemorrhage caused by a fulminant Stenotrophomonas maltophilia respiratory infection in an acute myeloid leukemia patient.
Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (Sm) pneumonia in immunocompromized hosts is an increasingly common nosocomial infection. Even though resistant to multiple antimicrobials, this gram-negative bacteria usually does not present with a fulminant course leading to a fatal hemorrhagic respiratory infection in neutropenic patients. We report here the case of a 63-year-old woman treated by intensive chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who presented while severely neutropenic and thrombocytopenic a Sm pulmonary infection with hemoptysis leading to death in 48 h. ⋯ Sm pneumonia usually does not evolve into such a devastating clinical picture although infections due to the bacteria are known to be associated with high morbidity and mortality. So far, the present observation is the fourth similar case reported in the literature. Even though an early diagnosis and an adequate antibiotic prescription may improve Sm infection prognosis, S. maltophilia proves difficult to eradicate due to a high resistance rate in part intrinsic but also in part acquired.

Case ReportsPrimary Burkitt's lymphoma only involving the chest wall at relapse in a child.
Burkitt's lymphoma primarily originating from the soft tissue is a very rare neoplasm. A five-year-old boy was admitted with a mass on the lateral side of the right breast. ⋯ Histopathology showed this to be Burkitt's lymphoma. To our knowledge, this case is the first instance of Burkitt's lymphoma presenting as an isolated chest wall mass which originated from the soft tissue.
