Treatment of aseptic loosened MTPI prosthesis by one-stage revision with ToeFit Plus prosthesis.
Due to the missing bony integration of the ceramic Moje prosthesis for replacing the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPI) in hallux rigidus, the mid-term results were bad so far. In case of revision, the distraction arthrodesis with autologous bone taken from the iliac crest as a salvage procedure is the method of choice. ⋯ We could show good and very good short-term results after the replacement of a loosened MTPI prosthesis with a ToeFit Plus. Due to the conic screw anchorage, ToeFit Plus is excellently suited for prosthesis replacement at the MTPI. With sufficient bony anchorage prerequisites, it is possible to preserve and improve the range of motion by changing the loosened MTPI prosthesis in the ToeFit Plus, thereby avoiding the morbidity of gaining autologous bone from the iliac crest.

Case ReportsOsteochondral autograft transplantation for malunited intra-articular fracture of the proximal interphalangeal joint: a case report.
Malunited intra-articular fracture of the proximal inter-phalangeal (PIP) joint sometimes causes problems, such as range of motion (ROM) limitation in the joint or lack of digital dexterity; however, the treatment method has not yet been established. We report a juvenile case of osteochondral autograft tranplantation to treat a malunited intra-articular fracture of the middle finger. ⋯ The benefits of our method include use of articular cartilage as a reconstruction material, availability for a relatively large cartilage defect, and stability of the autograft for the press-fitting method, which enable early mobilization exercise after surgery.

Repair of hand defects by transfer of free tissue flaps from toes.
There are very few reports on the use of a free composite flap from the toe to repair small tissue defects in the hand. Here, we describe our experience using a free composite flap from the great toe and second toe. ⋯ Based on the unique characteristics of the free flap from toes, we consider them to be good options for reconstruction of small tissue defects in the hand according to various sizes, shapes, and sites.

Root tear of the meniscus: biomechanical evaluation of an arthroscopic refixation technique.
Aim of the current study was to evaluate the structural properties of an arthroscopic refixation technique for meniscal root tears. ⋯ Structural properties of root tear fixation using a transtibial single suture technique showed significantly higher elongation and lower stiffness and failure load after cyclic loading compared to the intact, whereas a two suture technique showed no difference in elongation and stiffness; however, lower failure load.
