Bone tunnel placement influences shear stresses at the coracoid process after coracoclavicular ligament reconstruction: a finite element study and radiological analysis.
Coracoid fractures after arthroscopic treatment of acromioclavicular (AC) joint separations lead to poor clinical outcomes. In this study, different configurations of bone tunnels in the lateral clavicle and coracoid were examined concerning the amount of stress induced in the coracoid. ⋯ Controlled laboratory study.

Diagnostic value of the lateral femoral notch sign and kissing contusion in patients with anterior cruciate ligament injuries: a case-control study.
The lateral femoral notch sign (LFNS) and the kissing contusion (KC) are two indirect signs of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. They can be used to diagnose ACL injuries. ⋯ The LFNS and KC have strong clinical significance in the diagnosis of ACL injuries. A deeper notch often indicates a more complex knee injury. Notch depth equal to 0.72 mm can be basically considered as the optimal cut-off point for LFNS in statistics.

Distal radius fracture with concomitant ulnar styloid fracture: does distal radioulnar joint stability depend on the location of the ulnar styloid fracture?
Studies are conflicting regarding the relationship between ulnar styloid fracture (USF) location and distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) instability in patients with distal radius fracture (DRF) and concomitant USF. The objective of this study was to determine the association of USF location with TFCC foveal tear and factors associated with DRUJ instability in patients with both DRF and USF. ⋯ Tears of TFCC foveal insertion are common in patients with DRF and concomitant ulnar styloid base fractures. Based on the findings of this study, tear of TFCC foveal insertion seems to be also common in patients with DRF and concomitant ulnar styloid tip fractures. And also, DRUJ instability seems to be associated with a TFCC foveal tear independent of USF location.

Clinical TrialTwo-stage shoulder arthroplasty after deep infection of the shoulder caused by arthroplasty, osteosynthesis or other surgical procedures: microbial spectrum, complications and functional outcome after at least 1 year follow-up.
Infection represents probably the most challenging complication in shoulder arthroplasty and all other surgical procedures of the shoulder. A deep infection of the shoulder is often combined with a destruction of the joint and a loss of function. In many cases the arthroplasty is the last resort for these patients to obtain a satisfactory function. The objective of this study was to determine outcome data on microbiota and clinical results of a two-stage shoulder arthroplasty procedure after deep infection of the shoulder. ⋯ Trial registration number: DRKS00016927, date of registration: 2019/03/19.

Complications following total hip arthroplasty and hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fractures in patients with a history of lumbar spinal fusion.
The purpose of this study was to examine whether previous lumbar spinal fusion (LSF) was an independent risk factor for complications in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) or hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fractures. ⋯ Presence of LSF was found to be an independent risk factor for increased joint complications in patients undergoing either a THA or hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fractures.
