Ultrasonographic evaluation of contact configuration between flexor pollicis longus tendon and the volar prominence of volar plate in patients with distal radius fracture.
We classified the contact configuration between the volar prominence of volar locking plate (VLP) and flexor pollicis longus (FPL) tendon using ultrasound (US) into indentation contact and smooth contact, and investigated whether the contact configuration is associated with the flexor tendon attrition. ⋯ This study demonstrated that FPL tendon attrition was significantly associated with indentation contact on US with high sensitivity. Therefore, we recommend selective implant removal in patients with indentation contact configuration.

The learning curve associated with imageless navigation in total knee arthroplasty.
Computer-assisted navigation systems (CAS) are increasingly being integrated into total knee arthroplasty (TKA) procedures, but perceptions of associated learning curve and increased operative time continue to curtail uptake. Newer-generation navigational systems aim to streamline integration into surgical workflow to mitigate increases in operative time. Here, we assess the impact of a novel imageless CAS on operative time for TKA. ⋯ The learning curve for TKA navigation may be as few as 10 cases, and any associated increases in operative time may be transient and non-significant. Moreover, navigation may ultimately speed operative time, perhaps as the result of enhanced intraoperative assessment of alignment.

Salami-Tactics: when is it time for a major cut after multiple minor amputations?
Repetitive minor amputations carry the concomitant risks of multiple surgical procedures, major amputations have physical and economical major drawbacks. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether there is a distinct number of minor amputations predicting a major amputation in the same leg and to determine risk factors for major amputation in multiple minor amputations. ⋯ Retrospective comparative study (Level III).

Risk factors of residual pivot-shift after anatomic double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
Although anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is considered a successful procedure, residual pivot-shift after surgery remains to be solved. The purpose of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the risk factors of residual pivot-shift after anatomic double-bundle (DB) ACLR. ⋯ Patients < 20 years of age, with high-grade preoperative pivot-shift, or hyperextended knees had a higher risk of residual postoperative pivot-shift.

Observational StudyOsseoperception in transcutaneous osseointegrated prosthetic systems (TOPS) after transfemoral amputation: a prospective study.
Endo-exo prosthetics (EEP), which belongs to the transcutaneous osseointegrated prosthetic systems (TOPS), provides an alternative bone-anchored rehabilitation method for transfemoral amputees. It led to the question of whether transmitted forces from prosthetic feet are perceptible by osseoperception resulting in proprioceptive feedback of ground conditions. ⋯ Our study results suggest that the EEP treatment can lead to an improvement in tactile sensory perception via the bone-anchored implant, which can lead to an increase in quality of life and improved gait safety.
