Arthroscopic rod technique compared to stress ultrasound in the dynamic evaluation of lateral ligament instabilities of the elbow.
The purpose was to compare the arthroscopic rod technique to stress ultrasound in the dynamic assessment of lateral elbow instabilities. ⋯ The arthroscopic rod technique showed a superior interrater and test-retest reliability when compared to stress ultrasound. Arthroscopic assessment for radial elbow instability was found to be reliable and reproducible. A joint gapping ≥ 9 mm in the arthroscopic evaluation is a sign for a complete insufficiency of the radial capsuloligamentous complex. However, it is not possible to precisely distinguish between a lesion of the RCL or LUCL by arthroscopy. On the basis of our results, dynamic ultrasound testing may be inappropriate to objectify lateral elbow instability.

Racial disparities in post-operative complications and discharge destination following total joints arthroplasty: a national database study.
The objective of this study was to explore race-based differences in 30-day complication rates following total joint arthroplasty (TJA) using a large national database. ⋯ Our findings indicate higher rates of VTE, blood transfusions, and discharge to an inpatient facility for Black and Hispanic patients when compared to White patients following TJA, though we are unable to comment on the etiology of these disparities. These results may contribute to a growing divide with respect to outcomes and access to TJA for these at-risk patient populations.

Can double-level osteotomy prevent patellofemoral osteoarthritis progression compared with open wedge high tibial osteotomy?
To compare radiographic, clinical, and arthroscopic findings in patellofemoral (PF) osteoarthritis (OA) between open wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) and double-level osteotomy (DLO) with the same operative indication. ⋯ Level III, case-control study.

Reverse rhino sign as a radiological sign of low-grade infected reverse shoulder arthroplasty.
Low-grade infections following shoulder surgery are difficult to diagnose. Recently, curved-shaped bony spurs, further mentioned "reverse rhino signs" because of its shape, growing inferior on the glenoid were noticed on X-rays of patients with a reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) and a Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) infection. This study aimed to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the reverse rhino sign as a radiological marker for detecting low-grade shoulder infections in RSA. ⋯ Diagnostic level IV.

Two-stage exchange for PJI with co-existing cerclages for fracture: higher rates of early re-infections and difficult to treat microbes.
Periprosthetic joint infections (PJI) with osteosynthesis material for contemporaneous fractures are a challenging, yet poorly described condition. This study will analyze PJI with co-existing fractures treated with cerclages and two-stage exchange. ⋯ PJI with co-existing cerclages for fractures were associated with multi-resistant microbes, relapse by the same microbe and early-onset re-infections. Cerclages might be considered a potential source of re-infection during a two-stage exchange. However, statistical weaknesses and a small study group must be considered limitations of the study.
