Meta AnalysisSurgical treatment options for chronic instability of the peroneal tendons: a systematic review and proportional meta-analysis.
Several surgical techniques for chronic instability of the peroneal tendons have been reported. Yet, the most optimal technique has not been clarified. This study aims to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of all existing evidence and compare all published surgical techniques in both the athletic as the nonathletic population. ⋯ Surgical treatment results in excellent clinical and functional outcomes in patients with chronic peroneal instability. More inferior results were demonstrated for rerouting and bony procedures. However, no high-quality studies are available and future randomized controlled trials are necessary to advocate for the most advantageous approach.

Validation of the TLICS and AOSpine injury score for surgical management of paediatric traumatic spinal injuries.
Fractures of the thoracolumbar spine in children are rare. Consequently, classification systems providing detailed treatment recommendations as already established in adults are still lacking in the paediatric population. We aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the thoracolumbar injury classification and severity score system (TLICS) and the AOSpine injury score in paediatric patients presenting with a traumatic fracture of the thoracolumbar spine. ⋯ Our results confirm that the TLICS is a valid classification system for determining treatment decisions in paediatric patients and show slightly higher accuracy of the AOSpine injury score as well as high interrater reliabilities for both classification systems.

The role of routine transpedicular biopsies during kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty for vertebral compression fractures in the detection of malignant diseases: a systematic review.
Procedures like kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty have become an established treatment option for vertebral compression fractures (VCF). The transpedicular approach used during these procedures allows to take biopsies from the affected vertebral body. The aim of this study was to systematically summarize the existing knowledge on the value of routine transpedicular biopsies during kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty for vertebral compression fractures. ⋯ Routine transpedicular biopsies during kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty detect unexpected malignant lesions in 0.4-6% of the patients, even though the definition of "unexpected" varies among the analyzed studies. The evidence to support a routine biopsy is inconsistent. Nevertheless, routine biopsies can be considered, especially when sufficient preoperatvie imaging is not available or radiological findings are unclear.

After-hour elective total knee arthroplasty does not affect clinical outcomes but negatively affects alignment.
In cases of limited medical resources, elective total knee arthroplasty (TKA) sometimes needs to be performed after typical work hours. However, surgeon fatigue and logistical factors may potentially affect outcomes. This study aimed to detect whether after-hour procedures impair outcomes after TKA. ⋯ After-hour TKA procedure does not exert an impact on clinical outcomes, but negatively affects lower limb alignment. Besides, after-hour TKA surgery impairs patients' comfort by increasing POV.
