Analysis and 3D correction of glenoid dysplasia with metal hemi-wedge base plate augment: short-term radiographic outcomes.
Glenoid defects can be addressed traditionally by asymmetric reaming or by bone-preserving correction to a more lateral joint line by bone or metal augmented baseplates in reverse shoulder arthroplasties. While there is more evidence in literature regarding the outcome and complications of Bony Increased Offset Reversed Shoulder Arthroplasty (BIO-RSA), there is minimal reported experience with the outcome after metal glenoid augments. The aim of this study was to determine whether a metal augment can correct the glenoid deformity in an anatomic manner. ⋯ Level IV, Case series.

Perioperative complications after posterior spinal fusion versus minimally invasive fusionless surgery in neuromuscular scoliosis: a comparative study.
Early-onset scoliosis is a common deformity in neuromuscular disease. When conservative treatment becomes ineffective, several surgical options can be proposed. The most common technique is posterior spinal fusion (PSF) consisting of performing a multiple segmental instrumentation with pedicular screws on the full spine associated with decortication and bone graft. Minimally invasive fusionless surgery (MIFS) is an alternative to correct and fix definitively the spine without graft. The objective of this study was to compare early surgical inpatient period between PSF and MIFS in neuromuscular scoliosis. ⋯ In this series of neuromuscular patients, the complication rate was reduced in MIFS comparatively to PSF, with lower blood transfusion and less infections.

Clinical TrialModified surgical anchor refixation in older patients with acute proximal hamstring rupture: clinical outcome, patient satisfaction and muscle strength.
After conventional surgical refixation of the hamstrings after proximal hamstring rupture, patients frequently experience pain while sitting and deficits in hamstring muscle strength of the operated side. To improve these outcomes, we have modified the surgical anchor placement and have carried out a thorough follow-up examination. ⋯ ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04867746, registered.

Functional outcomes and health-related quality of life after reconstruction of segmental bone loss in femur and tibia using the induced membrane technique.
The induced membrane technique (IMT), frequently called Masquelet technique, is an operative, two-staged technique for treatment of segmental bone loss. Previous studies mainly focused on radiological outcome parameters and complication rates, while functional outcomes and health-related quality of life after the IMT were sparsely reported. ⋯ Our results show a high occurrence of complications after IMT stage 2 in segmental bone defects of femur and tibia requiring additional operative procedures. However, fair functional outcomes as well as a good union rate were observed at follow-up.

Arthroscopic surgery for symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus improves meniscal status assessed by magnetic resonance imaging T2 mapping.
Discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) is an anatomic knee variant associated with increased tears and degeneration. This study aimed to quantify meniscal status with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) T2 mapping before and after arthroscopic reshaping surgery for DLM. ⋯ The T2 relaxation time of symptomatic DLM was significantly longer than that of the medial meniscus preoperatively, and it decreased 24 months after arthroscopic reshaping surgery. The meniscal T2 relaxation time of the tear side was significantly longer than that of the non-tear side. There were significant correlations between the cartilage and meniscal T2 relaxation times at 24 months after surgery.
