Is the natural course of perioperative laboratory testing effective in identifying wound-related complications following primary total hip arthroplasty?
Previous study did not clarify the correlation between the natural course of perioperative blood tests and occurrence of wound-related complications, including SSI, PJI, and delayed wound healing. This study aimed to investigate whether perioperative laboratory test is effective in identifying wound-related complications after THA. ⋯ The main role of perioperative blood tests is to recognize preoperative patient factors in order to early detect of perioperative wound complications. Serum CRP values in 1 week postoperatively may play a supplemental role in taking care of perioperative wound complication.

Risk analyses for perioperative morbidities after aseptic knee revision arthroplasty.
Total lower limb arthroplasties are standard orthopedic surgeries that are steadily increasing in modern civilization. In proportion, the number of revision arthroplasties and the corresponding financial burden for healthcare systems will increase. The present clinical investigation analyzed morbidities after aseptic revision knee arthroplasty. ⋯ Aseptic knee revision arthroplasty is a complex procedure with perioperative morbidities that can significantly impact outcomes. Age and gender are crucial factors in managing complications during hospitalization and follow-up. Elderly patients, particularly those over 75 years, are more prone to aseptic loosening and require tailored preoperative preparation. The study underscores the importance of individualized patient care strategies to mitigate risks and improve outcomes in aseptic knee revision arthroplasty.

Impact of femoral stem alignment on periprosthetic bone density in THA: a study of the Avenir Complete stem.
Thigh pain, aseptic loosening, and failure after total hip arthroplasty has been reported. Therefore, this study examines the impact of femoral stem alignment on periprosthetic bone mineral density (BMD) in THA using the Avenir Complete cementless stem, focusing on the role of precise stem alignment in maintaining proximal femoral BMD. ⋯ The findings underscore the importance of accurate stem positioning in THA, particularly in avoiding varus malalignment and anteversion errors, as misalignment can adversely affect proximal femoral BMD and potentially lead to early stem loosening. This study enhances the understanding of the influence of the Avenir Complete stem on postoperative BMD, highlighting the need for precise alignment to optimize outcomes.

Review Meta AnalysisSimultaneous patellar tendon and anterior cruciate ligament rupture: a systematic review, meta-analysis and algorithmic approach.
Isolated patellar tendon (PT) or anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures are common injuries, yet the co-occurrence of both presents a rare challenge for clinicians. The objectives of the study are to document diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, outcomes, and complications of combined PT and ACL injuries and to develop an algorithm to guide clinicians in decision-making. ⋯ Combined ACL and PT rupture is rare, and recognizing its full extent is crucial for successful management. Performing an MRI in PT rupture from high-energy trauma and diagnostic arthroscopy/arthrotomy when MRI is not done is essential. PT ruptures should be treated surgically. For ACL rupture, conservative and operative treatment, one- or two-stage surgery are possible based on the patient's profile and concomitant injuries. Based on the limited available literature, this systematic review provides a diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm to assist in clinical decision-making.
