Comparing outcomes in revision total hip arthroplasty in inpatient versus outpatient setting: a matched cohort analysis.
As the population ages, revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA) is becoming more common. However, there is a paucity of literature regarding perioperative outcomes following inpatient versus outpatient rTHA. Our study aims to compare perioperative complications and readmission rates associated with rTHA in a large national cohort. ⋯ There were no difference in the odds of complications between outpatient primary and revision THA. Additionally, rTHA performed in an outpatient setting did not show any increase in immediate compared to inpatient settings. These findings suggest that rTHA can be safely performed on certain patients.

Case ReportsSurface replacing arthroplasty of a post-traumatic stiff and deviated proximal interphalangeal joint in an adolescent.
This case report describes the 4-year outcomes of proximal interphalangeal joint arthroplasty in a 14-year-old girl with a stiff joint after trauma. At follow-up, active range of motion was 35°, she was pain-free and satisfied with the outcome. Implant arthroplasty seems to be a valuable option for young patients with persistent post-traumatic stiff and deviated PIP joints to-at least temporarily-increase quality of life.

Bone deformity in sports-related elbow osteoarthritis: influence of osteochondritis dissecans of the capitellum-a cross-sectional study.
Sports activity can cause elbow osteoarthritis, which subsequently induces bone deformity. Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the capitellum develops defects of articular surfaces and can exacerbate bone deformity. This study aimed to investigate whether OCD exacerbates deformities in sports-related elbow osteoarthritis. ⋯ Larger OCD exacerbated deformity in elbow OA, and the presence of OCD exacerbated deformities in sports-related elbow OA. These results demonstrate the highlight of preventing OCD progression.

Relationship between increased knee joint line obliquity after medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy and patient-reported outcome measures.
This study evaluated the correlation between postoperative knee joint line obliquity after medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy and patient-reported outcome measures excluding excessively overcorrected knees. This study further identified preoperative radiological factors related to the increased postoperative knee joint line obliquity. ⋯ Retrospective comparative study, Level III.

ReviewUse of a fluoroscopy-based robotic-assisted total hip arthroplasty system produced greater improvements in patient-reported outcomes at one year compared to manual, fluoroscopic-assisted technique.
The adoption of new technology should be supported by improvements in patient-reported outcomes (PROMs). The purpose of this study was to assess the one-year PROMs of patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) using a novel, fluoroscopy-based, robotic-assisted (RA-THA) system when compared to a manual, fluoroscopic-assisted technique (mTHA). ⋯ Both manual and robotic cohorts experienced benefit from THA at one-year post-operative. Importantly, the use of a novel, fluoroscopy-based robotic assistance system for primary THA resulted in greater improvements in PROMs at one-year relative to manual technique.
