The temperature profile in elbow arthroscopy using radiofrequency ablation.
Over the last decades, arthroscopic surgery has become increasingly relevant as its minimally invasive approach offers many benefits. To investigate the risks of orthoscopic surgery at the elbow, this study aimed to investigate the development of temperatures in elbow joints while performing radiofrequency ablation in arthroscopic surgery. ⋯ Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) can be safely used in elbow arthroscopy with irrigation. The continuous use without irrigation should be limited to 3 s. Despite the anatomical proximity of the ulnar nerve and capsule, we were able to show that a possible rise in temperature most likely does not affect the ulnar nerve.

ReviewThe Pararectus approach: a preferred surgical approach for fixation of acetabular fractures predominantly involving the anterior column - a narrative review.
Beginning in France in the 1960s, the management of acetabular fractures has increasingly evolved toward surgical treatment strategies. The basic principles established by the pioneers of acetabular surgery, Letournel and Judet - anatomical reconstruction of the joint and stable osteosynthesis - remain unchanged. Modern advancements in surgical techniques aim to reduce access-related trauma and minimize complications. ⋯ In this review, we examine the merits and limitations of the Pararectus approach, specifically focusing on its utility in the surgical treatment of anterior column posterior hemitransverse acetabular fractures. Ultimately, the success of the individual patient's outcome is less dependent on the chosen approach and more on the surgeon's experience and expertise. Ideally, surgeons should be proficient in all these approaches to tailor the surgical strategy to the individual patient's requirements, thereby ensuring optimal outcomes.

ReviewNavigation and 3D-imaging in pelvic ring surgery: a systematic review of prospective comparative studies.
Few literature reviews have been published focusing on navigation, robotic or pre-operative planning using 3D-imaging technology (3D-printing, 3D-planning). To our knowledge, no reviews have been performed to assess and compare all these modalities together versus control groups (conventional fluoroscopy) through high Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) and Prospective Control Studies (PCSs). The aim of this study was to assess and compare 3D-imaging technologies from pre-operative planning to per-operative navigation and robotic in the management of pelvic ring fractures through high level studies. ⋯ Systematic review of Level II studies.

Comparison of femoral bone remodeling after total hip arthroplasty with cementless short-tapered wedge stem and fully hydroxyapatite-coated stem.
We aimed to compare periprosthetic femoral bone remodeling after cementless total hip arthroplasty (THA) using a short-tapered wedge stem and a fully hydroxyapatite (HA)-coated stem. ⋯ Clinical and radiographical outcomes in both groups were good, and both stems suppressed postoperative BMD loss at 2 years.

Survivorship of total knee arthroplasty in poliomyelitis patients: long-term results from the R.I.P.O. registry and single-institution retrospective study.
The survival of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in patients with poliomyelitis remains a debated topic due to the high recurrence of postoperative genu recurvatum. This study aims to report the long-term survival of TKA in patients with poliomyelitis, using data from the Italian Register of Prosthetic Implantology. ⋯ TKA is a viable alternative to knee arthrodesis and, in properly selected patients, might represent the first-choice treatment for articular degeneration due to its high survivorship. Despite the complexity of these cases, TKA can effectively alleviate articular pain, instability, and angular deviation, thereby preserving knee functionality.
