A novel approach for anterior cruciate ligament tibial avulsion fracture: arthroscopic modified suture bridge fixation technique.
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tibial avulsion fracture is a rare injury, which usually happens in adults with traffic accidents or sports injuries. Surgery interventions are common treatment methods, they can restore knee function and help to return to normal life. In this study, we described an arthroscopic modified suture bridge fixation technique for ACL tibial avulsion fractures and explored the feasibility and therapeutic effects. ⋯ Results demonstrated that the modified suture bridge fixation technique under arthroscope could provide reliable fixation and favorable clinical effects for ACL tibial avulsion fractures. This is a simple, minimally invasive, effective, and clinically applicable surgical method for ACL tibial avulsion fracture.

Brown tumors are reactive osteolytic lesions caused by hyperparathyroidism. These rare lesions are non-neoplastic processes that result from bone resorption. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively review a 34-year experience with brown tumors in our institution. ⋯ The diagnosis of brown tumor begins with clinical suspicion. Endocrinology and general surgery consultation is important before surgery. Treatment of brown tumors requires a multidisciplinary approach.

Intrafocal injection of tranexamic acid decreases early return to hospital after high tibial osteotomy.
High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a surgery performed to treat the symptoms and prevent the progression of medial osteoarthritis. Post-operative bleeding has led to early returns to hospital following surgery. Intrafocal injection of tranexamic acid (TXA) could reduce this bleeding complication. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of TXA during HTO on the incidence of post-operative complications and early returns to hospital. ⋯ The intrafocal injection of TXA during HTO decreases early returns to hospital.

The surgical learning curve for percutaneous Zadek osteotomy for treatment of insertional achilles tendinopathy.
The Zadek Osteotomy has been described as an effective technique for the treatment of insertional Achilles tendinopathy. Recently, this strategy has been modified using minimally invasive techniques. A learning curve has been observed in many minimally invasive procedures in foot and ankle surgery. This retrospective study first intended to evaluate if there is a learning curve associated with the percutaneous Zadek Osteotomy. Further, if a learning curve was observed, we planned to assess the data for associated changes in complications and postoperative outcomes. ⋯ Data will not be deposited in a repository.

Local recurrence rates of superficial versus deep soft tissue sarcoma.
Soft tissue sarcomas are a group of malignancies that commonly occur in the extremities. As deep lesions may exist within the confines of the muscular fascia, we postulate that local recurrence rates are higher for superficial soft tissue sarcomas managed by the standard of care. ⋯ In this series, superficial tumor depth was associated with local recurrence of soft tissue sarcomas of the extremity following surgical resection. Positive surgical margins was also associated with local recurrence.
