Review Meta AnalysisThe outcomes of conversion of hemiarthroplasty to total hip arthroplasty, a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Acetabular erosion is an important complication in hemiarthroplasty and may lead to total hip arthroplasty as a conversion. The results of total hip arthroplasty as a conversion remain unclear. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the outcome of total hip arthroplasty as a conversion with primary total hip arthroplasty. ⋯ Literature concerning the results of total hip arthroplasty as a conversion is limited. The risk of revision after conversion of hemiarthroplasty is higher compared to primary total hip arthroplasty.

Review Meta AnalysisThe effectiveness of extended reality on relieving pain after total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Patients with total knee arthroplasty (TKA) often suffer from severe postoperative pain, which seriously hinders postoperative rehabilitation. Extended reality (XR), including virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality, has been increasingly used to relieve pain after TKA. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of XR on relieving pain after TKA. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis found applying XR could significantly reduce postoperative pain and anxiety after TKA. When XR was combined with conventional methods, postoperative pain can be effectively relieved, especially within 2 weeks after the operation. XR is an effective non-pharmacological analgesia scheme.

ReviewFracture sonography-review of literature and current recommendations.
Over a span of more than two years, a collaborative expert group consisting of 9 professional societies has meticulously crafted the S2e guideline on fracture sonography. This publication encapsulates the essential insights pertaining to specific indications. A thorough and systematic literature search, covering the period from 2000 to March 2021, was conducted across PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, complemented by an evaluation of bibliographies. ⋯ Out of the initial pool of 520 literature sources, a meticulous screening and content assessment process yielded 182 sources (146 clinical studies and 36 meta-analyses and systematic reviews) for evaluation. The comprehensive analysis identified twenty-one indications that substantiate the judicious use of fracture sonography. Ultrasound emerges as a pragmatic and user-friendly diagnostic method, showcasing feasibility across a diverse range of indications.

Meta AnalysisSurgical management of tibial eminence avulsion fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The ideal surgical management for tibial eminence avulsion fractures remains controversial with varying approach, methods of fixation and post-operative regimes reported throughout literature. The current systematic review and meta-analysis aims to compare between the different approaches, methods of fixation and post-operative regimes for tibial eminence fractures. ⋯ Arthroscopic and suture fixation had significantly superior outcomes when compared to open and screw fixation. Arthroscopic fixation resulted in significantly improved stability of the knee as compared to open fixation, though no significant difference was identified in terms of functional knee scores and return to activity. Suture fixation resulted in significantly improved stability of the knee and functional knee screws as compared to screw fixation.

ReviewSingle bundle hamstrings autograft preparation techniques for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: current concepts.
Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is one of the most common orthopedic procedures, and huge variation exists in the surgical technique. Single bundle hamstrings autograft reconstruction is a common method and has good clinical outcomes. A criticism of the hamstrings autograft is a small graft diameter, often less than 8-mm, which has been associated with increased re-rupture rates. ⋯ Awareness of the minimum tendon and graft length required to produce each graft variation is necessary to avoid common pitfalls. However, intraoperative graft modification is possible to maximize graft diameter, and obtain proper fixation. The objective of this current concepts review is to describe the indications, surgical anatomy, technique, intraoperative tips, clinical outcomes, and complications for single bundle hamstrings autograft preparation techniques in ACLR.
