Review Meta AnalysisOutcomes and adverse events for spinal synovial cysts surgical treatment: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Spinal synovial cysts (SSCs) are a rare cause of nerve root and spinal cord compression. Surgical excision of SSCs remains the mainstay of treatment in the presence of unremitting symptoms or neurological deficits, but the choice of the surgical approach remains controversial. The goal of this study was to compare clinical outcomes and adverse events associated with traditional approaches (interlaminar or laminectomy/hemilaminectomy) and minimally invasive approaches (microsurgical tubular approaches or endoscopic approaches) for SSCs. ⋯ Based on the available evidence, minimally invasive approaches may be better than traditional approaches in the treatment of SSCs. Minimally invasive approaches had the advantages of improving clinical satisfaction, with a similar complication rate to traditional approaches. Moreover, endoscopic and microsurgical tubular approaches had similar outcomes.

Review Meta AnalysisBeyond one step: unveiling optimal approach for bilateral knee arthroplasty - a comprehensive meta-analysis.
Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is an efficient and common procedure used to treat advanced osteoarthritis of the knee. Geriatric patients make up the majority of TKA patients. For the surgical management of bilateral knee arthritis, there is still debate regarding whether to do a simultaneous or staged TKA. We through this study have gathered data and aimed to assess the safety of simultaneous bilateral TKA in patients. ⋯ Staged bilateral TKA is associated with less complication rates as compared to simultaneous bilateral TKA. Hence, patients should be counselled and selected based on the risks respective to each strategy.

Review Case ReportsMelorheostosis of the cervical and cervicothoracic spine: review of the literature and presentation of 3 new cases.
Melorheostosis is a rare dysplastic bone disease that usually affects long bones at the upper or lower limbs. It is rarely seen at the spine and very rarely located at the cervical spine. ⋯ Here, we give an overview of the current literature of spinal melorheostosis with respect to number of cases and skeletal distribution, aetiology, radiographic appearance, symptoms and treatment. Finally, we describe 3 new clinical cases with manifestation of melorheostosis at the cervical spine and the cervicothoracic junction.

ReviewSuction drain usage has no benefit following revision total hip and knee arthroplasty.
The use of drains after primary total joint arthroplasty (TJA) has shown little benefit. Few studies have investigated drain usage after revision TJA. The purpose of this study was to determine whether utilizing suction drains is beneficial for patients undergoing revision arthroplasty. ⋯ Level III, systematic review and meta-analysis.

Comparative StudyEOSedge vs. standard digital radiography: image quality and dose exposure in hip-focused scanning.
To compare the image quality and X-ray exposure dose from EOSedge versus standard digital radiography (SDR) focused on the hip for replacement or prosthesis revision surgery. ⋯ This study highlighted the superior image quality of EOSedge images focused on the pelvis and hip compared to SDR, with significantly less radiation exposure.
