ReviewWrisberg variant of the lateral discoid meniscus in children: review of the literature and presentation of case series.
The Wrisberg variant of the discoid lateral meniscus is a very rare disorder and is characterized by the hypermobility and instability of the meniscus caused by the absence of its posterior tibial attachment, with only its meniscofemoral junction (Wrisberg's ligament) maintained, and inserted in the posterior horn of the meniscus. As a result, the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus is mobile; often subluxing into the joint. ⋯ MRI is a valuable tool in the evaluation of the shape, stability, and consistency of symptomatic discoid menisci. It is helpful for the detection of the unstable Wrisberg variant.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of cementless twin-peg, cemented twin-peg and cemented single-peg femoral component migration after medial unicompartmental knee replacement: a 5-year randomized RSA study.
The component design and fixation method of joint arthroplasty may affect component migration and survival. The aim of this study was to compare fixation of cementless twin-peg (CLTP), cemented twin-peg (CTP) and cemented single-peg (CSP) femoral components of medial unicompartmental knee replacement (UKR). ⋯ At 5-year follow-up, fixation of UKA femoral components with twin-peg was not superior to the single-peg design. Cementless and cemented twin-peg femoral components had similar fixation. A lower flexion angle was correlated with higher component migration.

Association of osteoporosis and high serum homocysteine levels with intraoperative periprosthetic fracture during total hip arthroplasty: a propensity-score matching analysis.
Intraoperative periprosthetic fracture, one of the most frequent complications of total hip arthroplasty, is a very important factor that affects rehabilitation, hospitalization time, and cost of treatment. Osteoporosis is common in total hip arthroplasty patients and likely contributes to the increasing incidence of periprosthetic fracture. Despite this awareness, preoperative and postoperative osteoporosis evaluations remain insufficient. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationships between the occurrence of intraoperative periprosthetic fractures and both bone mineral density (BMD) and osteoporosis-related biomarkers. ⋯ III, A single-center retrospective study.

Social determinants of health in patients undergoing hemiarthroplasty: are they associated with medical complications, healthcare utilization, and payments for care?
Social determinants of health (SDOH) have previously been shown to impact orthopedic surgery outcomes. This study assessed whether greater socioeconomic disadvantage in patients undergoing hemiarthroplasty following femoral neck fracture was associated with differences in (1) medical complications, (2) emergency department (ED) utilization, (3) readmission rates, and (4) payments for care. ⋯ III.
