Latissimus Dorsi and Teres major tendon transfer increases internal rotation torque following lateralized reverse shoulder arthroplasty with subscapularis insufficiency.
Limitation of active Internal Rotation (IR) following Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty (RSA) in patients with massive Rotator Cuff Tears (mRCTs) with subscapularis insufficiency remains a challenge. Recently, RSA with Latissimus dorsi and Teres major (LDTM) transfer in patients with limited active IR has been demonstrated as a reliable treatment option. The purpose of this study was to biomechanically compare the IR torque following LDTM transfer with RSA in mRCT with subscapularis insufficiency to RSA without tendon transfer. ⋯ LDTM transfer with RSA increases IR torque compared to RSA without tendon transfer in a cadaveric model. LDTM transfer with RSA may be a reliable treatment option for patients with mRCT and subscapularis insufficiency who are expected to have limited active IR following RSA.

Safe zone of supraclavicular nerve during clavicle fixation and its anatomical variations, a cadaveric study.
Supraclavicular nerve injury is usually at risk during clavicular fracture fixation. This study aimed to examine the anatomical features and estimate the precise location of supraclavicular nerve branches related to adjacent structural landmarks and to evaluate the differences between sex and side. To highlight the clinical purposes and surgical relevance, this study attempted to define a surgical safe zone that would probably protect the supraclavicular nerve during clavicle fixation. ⋯ Basic Science Study, Anatomic Study.

Retracted PublicationPain behavior of children with bilateral idiopathic clubfoot undergoing Ponseti casting and the effect of non-pharmaceutical pain-relieving agents.
This study prospectively investigated the pain response and physiological parameters [heart rate (HR) and oxygen saturation (SpO2)] during sequential casting in bilateral clubfoot. Additionally, it explored the role of non-nutritive sucking and human care contact on the observed responses during casting. ⋯ The clubfoot child exhibited moderate pain response during casting of both feet. A tachycardia was noted prior to initiation of second cast which further exaggerated with subsequent cast. Pacifier (non-nutritive sucking) intervention produced better control of pain response than human care contact during casting for both feet.

Review Meta AnalysisIrritation from metalwork after ankle arthrodesis fixed using screws: a proportional meta-analysis and systematic review.
Ankle arthrodesis (AA) is often fixed using cannulated screws. The irritation from metalwork is a relatively common complication, but there is no consensus regarding the need to remove the screws on a systematic basis. The aim of this study was to determine (1) the proportion of screws removed after AA and (2) whether predictors of screw removal could be identified. ⋯ Level IV, systematic review of Level IV.
