Review Meta AnalysisLimb salvage versus primary amputation in Gustilo-Anderson IIIB and IIIC tibial fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The last systematic review on this topic was published in 2008. With advances in surgical techniques, patients with mangled extremities may now be potentially salvageable with comparable outcomes. This review aims to evaluate the outcomes of limb salvage compared to primary amputation in patients with severe open tibial fractures. ⋯ III.

Review Meta AnalysisThe course of knee extensor strength after total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review with meta-analysis and -regression.
Muscular strength loss and atrophy are postoperative complications. This systematic review with meta-analysis investigated the course of on knee extensor mass and strength from pre-surgery over total knee arthroplasty to rehabilitation and recovery. ⋯ We found moderate certainty evidence that deficits in muscle strength of the knee extensors persist and progress until 3 months post-total knee arthroplasty in patients with end-stage knee osteoarthritis. Very low certainty evidence exists that preoperatively existing imbalance of muscle strength and mass in favor of the leg not undergoing surgery is not recovered within 1 year after surgery.

ReviewFemoral head and neck autograft in arthroplasty for developmental dysplasia of the hip: a systematic review of long-term outcomes.
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) with an acetabular component and an autogenous femoral head graft for acetabular reconstruction in developmental dysplasia of the hip was first described by Harris et al. in 1977. While a number of studies have addressed the aforementioned scenario over the last decades, most lack sufficient numbers and follow-up. As such, we analyzed long-term outcomes of THAs with femoral autograft for arthrosis secondary to hip dysplasia. ⋯ Therapeutic Level III.
