Comparative analysis of scaphoid nonunion treatment with screw fixation and angular stable plate.
Scaphoid fractures represent 5-10% of nonunion rate and the treatment options consist of an open reduction with correction of deformity, restoration of the scaphoid length with autologous wedge grafting and fixation. However, there is still no consensus in the literature on the best fixation method. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to compare plate fixation and screw fixation in treating scaphoid nonunion with humpback deformity and carpal instability. ⋯ II, therapeutics studies; prospective comparative study.

Characteristics of pedicle screw misplacement using freehand technique in degenerative scoliosis surgery.
This study aimed to estimate the accuracy of pedicle screw (PS) placement in degenerative scoliosis surgery, characterize a patient population with PS misplacement, and analyze the association between misplaced PS vector and lumbar coronal curve. ⋯ The accuracy of PS insertion in the thoracic to lumbar spine was high in DS surgery, but the need for care was highlighted in the transitional vertebra.

Total knee arthroplasty in patients with lumbar spinal fusion leads to significant changes in pelvic tilt and sacral slope.
The knee-hip-spine syndrome has been well elucidated in the literature in recent years. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) on spinopelvic sagittal alignment in patients with and without pre-TKA lumber spinal fusion. ⋯ Retrospective Cohort Study.

Arthroscopic rod technique compared to stress ultrasound in the dynamic evaluation of lateral ligament instabilities of the elbow.
The purpose was to compare the arthroscopic rod technique to stress ultrasound in the dynamic assessment of lateral elbow instabilities. ⋯ The arthroscopic rod technique showed a superior interrater and test-retest reliability when compared to stress ultrasound. Arthroscopic assessment for radial elbow instability was found to be reliable and reproducible. A joint gapping ≥ 9 mm in the arthroscopic evaluation is a sign for a complete insufficiency of the radial capsuloligamentous complex. However, it is not possible to precisely distinguish between a lesion of the RCL or LUCL by arthroscopy. On the basis of our results, dynamic ultrasound testing may be inappropriate to objectify lateral elbow instability.

Repeat two-stage exchange arthroplasty for recurrent periprosthetic hip or knee infection: what are the chances for success?
Two-stage revision is a frequently chosen approach to treat chronic periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). However, management of recurrent infection after a two-stage exchange remains debated and the outcome of a repeat two-stage procedure is unclear. This study investigates the success rates of repeat two-stage exchange arthroplasty and analyzes possible risk factors for failure. ⋯ The success rates after repeat two-stage exchange arthroplasty are low. Patients must be counseled accordingly and different modes of treatment should be considered.
