Varus stem positioning does not affect long-term functional outcome in cementless anatomical total hip arthroplasty.
Varus positioning is the most common femoral malposition in total hip arthroplasty (THA). We compared the long-term outcomes of an anatomical cementless femoral stem positioned in varus versus neutral alignment. ⋯ A varus alignment of a cementless anatomic femoral stem does not affect survivorship, clinical outcomes or complication rate on an average follow-up of 10 years, despite increasing stress-shielding rates.

Outcomes of posterior malleolar fractures with intra-articular impacted fragment.
An intra-articular impacted fragment (IAIF) could lead to articular incongruity and malreduction in ankle fractures with posterior malleolar fractures (PMFs). No studies have been conducted to determine whether the presence of IAIF affects the outcome of ankle fractures with PMF. The aim of our retrospective study was to evaluate the effect of IAIF on postoperative outcomes in PMF and analyze the relationship between area of IAIF and outcomes. ⋯ Level III.

Observational StudyOrthopaedic surgery and its allied associations on social media: an observational study.
The use of social media in orthopaedic surgery and its allied associations has not been studied. There are various associations which are actively engaged in social media platforms to enhance their impact with their users across the globe. We evaluated the social media presence and extent of involvement of orthopaedics journals and their publishing companies, orthopaedics organizations, orthopaedics device firms, and health organizations. ⋯ Although the active involvement of orthopaedics journals and their publishers is lower than multispecialty publishing companies but increasing trends were found recently. Orthopaedics organisations and device firms were actively involved on social networking while orthopaedics multispeciality health organizations associated with renowned universities have huge likes or followers. The social networking has the potential to flourish these journals and organisations in the near future as large populations over the globe have been actively participating and growing in their numbers exponentially.

The aim of this study was to generate more information on the etiology and pathogenesis of medial (MM) and lateral (LM) meniscus root tears. Our hypothesis was that root tears of the MM predominantly result from degenerative damage, whereas root injuries of the LM are mainly of traumatic origin. ⋯ III.
