The effects of Peptide Mel4-coated titanium plates on infection rabbits after internal fixation of open fractures.
Infection after internal fixation surgery is an orthopedic serious complication which affect the fracture healing. The primary objective of this study was to verify the effects of a Peptide Mel4-coated titanium plate applied in the treatment of infection after internal fixation of open fracture. ⋯ We suggest that the use of Mel4-coated titanium plates may be a promising way to control postoperative infection of open fracture in vivo.

Expandable Proximal Femoral Nail versus Gamma Proximal Femoral Nail for the treatment of hip reverse oblique fractures.
Reverse oblique intertrochanteric fractures are classified by the AO/OTA as 31A3 and account for 2-23% of all trochanteric fractures. The Gamma 3-Proximal Femoral Nail (GPFN) and the Expendable Proximal Femoral Nail (EPFN) are among the various devises used to treat this fracture. The aim of this study was to compare outcomes and complication rates in patients with AO/OTA 31A1-3 fractures, treated by either a GPFN or an EPFN. ⋯ Level III retrospective study. The local institutional review board of the Tel Aviv Medical Center approved this study and all the surgeries were done exclusively in this institution.

Evaluation of knee bone morphology in juvenile patients with complete discoid lateral meniscus using magnetic resonance imaging.
The characteristic two-dimensional bone morphology in patients with a discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) has been described. However, the associated three-dimensional imaging findings have not been characterized. This study was performed to identify differences in the knee bone morphology between juvenile patients with a DLM and those with a normal meniscus using magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. ⋯ Diagnostic study, Level III.
