Radiographic changes in the distal ulna in non-rheumatoid patients with extensor digitorum communis ruptures.
Osteoarthritis of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) is relatively common in elderly people. Extensor digitorum communis (EDC) ruptures occasionally and occurs with or without prior signs in these people. The purpose of this study was to clarify the radiographic changes in the distal ulna associated with EDC rupture. ⋯ Deformation of the distal ulna, a large UV, dorsal penetration, and dorsal bowing was related to EDC rupture. Regarding the large UV, the lunate shaved the upper half of the distal ulna, whereas the DRUJ shaved the lower half. These processes formed a tapered ulna head. A large UV and an inclination of the DRUJ played a role in ulnar head deformation.

Additional lateral extra-articular tenodesis in revision ACL reconstruction does not influence the outcome of patients with low-grade anterior knee laxity.

Comparison between freehand technique and computed tomography-based navigation in acetabular cup placement through direct anterior approach for total hip arthroplasty.
In total hip arthroplasty (THA), improper cup orientation can result in dislocation, early excessive polyethylene wear, and pain following THA. The supine position during THA provides a more reproducible functional pelvic position than the lateral decubitus position and may allow freehand cup placement as reliable as that obtained by computer navigation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of freehand cup placement through a supine direct anterior approach (DAA) compared with computed tomography (CT)-based navigation. ⋯ Freehand cup placement is less reliable even in the supine position. Use of a CT-based navigation system can significantly improve cup positioning in THA through the DAA by reducing the incidence of outliers.

Revision indications for medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: a systematic review.
Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) has advantages over total knee arthroplasty including fewer complications and faster recovery; however, UKAs also have higher revision rates. Understanding reasons for UKA failure may, therefore, allow for optimized clinical outcomes. We aimed to identify failure modes for medial UKAs, and to examine differences by implant bearing, cement use and time. ⋯ UKA failure modes differ depending on implant design, cement use and time from surgery. There should be careful consideration of implant options and patient selection for UKA.
