Results after arthroscopic treatment of iliopsoas impingement after total hip arthroplasty.
A cause of groin pain after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is mechanical irritation or impingement of the iliopsoas tendon. The incidence is about 4%. If conservative therapy fails, an arthroscopic release of the iliopsoas tendon can be performed. The aim of the study was to assess the mid-term clinical outcome after arthroscopic release. We hypothesize that good results can be achieved by a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure. ⋯ IV.

One-year follow-up data from the German Cartilage Registry (KnorpelRegister DGOU) in the treatment of chondral and osteochondral defects of the talus.
Chondral and osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLTs) remain a challenging issue with numerous operative treatments proposed to date. The aim of this study was to evaluate 1-year follow-up data in the German Cartilage Registry (KnorpelRegister DGOU). ⋯ All analyzed treatment options were effective for treatment of OLTs. In particular, large defects appeared to benefit from treatment. In the presence of concomitant ankle instability, a stabilizing procedure appeared to have a positive impact on the outcome.

Total joint replacement of the hip and knee in patients with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita: a report of six joints.
Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is a rare congenital condition that leads to severe joint contractures and deformities. As painful joint dysplasia and degeneration might develop over time, total joint replacement (TJR) can be a potential treatment option for these patients. The aim of this study is to investigate functional results, implant survivorship and potential complications in patients with AMC who undergo hip or knee arthroplasty. ⋯ TJR is a safe procedure in patients with AMC that effectively improves function and reduces pain irrespective of preoperative ambulatory status.

In our previous studies, we were able to identify anatomical differences as a predictor for aseptic loosening following primary and revision surgery with the use of rotating hinge prosthesis. This study was performed to answer following question: can a novel radiological classification system of the distal femur be identified? ⋯ The novel classification presents three different types of the knee joint for male and female patients. Type C has a wider inner diaphyseal diameter compared to Type A with a narrow inner diaphyseal diameter.

Incidence and risk factors of preoperative deep venous thrombosis in closed tibial shaft fracture: a prospective cohort study.
To investigate the preoperative morbidity of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and predictive risk factors associated with DVT after closed tibial shaft fracture. ⋯ Level III, a prospective cohort study.
