"Reverse miss-a-nail technique" of reconstruction nailing for successful fixation of the ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fracture.
Although reconstruction nails have an advantage of single-construct fixation in ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures, they have not been used widely due to the technical challenges associated with their placement. Reduction is particularly demanding in patients with displaced neck fractures after nailing of the shaft fracture, and can be resulted in nonunion, malunion, and osteonecrosis. We report a new technique of reconstruction nailing after the provisional reduction and fixation of a neck fracture to achieve successful healing of this injury. ⋯ Provisional fixation after reduction of a femoral neck fracture may facilitate successful reconstruction nailing in the ipsilateral fractures of the femoral neck and shaft. This "Reverse Miss-a-Nail Technique" may minimize complications and maximize the radiologic and functional outcomes of patients who experience this injury.

Does radiological evaluation of endobutton positioning in the sagittal plane affect clinical functional results in single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction?
Sports injuries are increasing today due to the increased interest in sports. The most common injured knee ligament is the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in sport injuries. Accordingly, surgical treatment of the ACL is performed frequently. In this study, it was aimed to retrospectively evaluate whether the location of an endobutton on lateral knee radiography was effective on knee functional scores in patients who underwent ACL reconstruction. ⋯ No statistically significant differences were found in clinical functional results when comparing patients' endobutton location on femur. For this reason, surgical time should not be extended using unnecessary extra effort to change the orientation of the exit hole during surgery.

The EQ-5D-3L administered by text message compared to the paper version for hard-to-reach populations in a rural South African trauma setting: a measurement equivalence study.
Administering patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) by text message may improve response rate in hard-to-reach populations. This study explored cultural acceptability of PROMs and compared measurement equivalence of the EQ-5D-3L administered on paper and by text message in a rural South African setting. ⋯ Text messaging is equivalent to paper-based measurement of EQ-5D in this setting and is thus a viable tool for responders. Non-responders had similar socioeconomic characteristics and attrition rates to traditional modes of administration. The EQ-5D by text message offers potential clinical and research uses in hard-to-reach populations.

Biomechanical evaluation of the viscoelastic properties tissue deformation, stiffness, and maximum breaking load of the human A2 pulley. We hypothesized that the A2 pulleys of index, middle, and ring fingers exhibit no difference regarding the aforementioned biomechanical parameters. ⋯ Assessment of the viscoelastic properties of the A2 finger pulley promotes precise diagnosis of pulley lesions and will help to optimize treatment.

Delayed anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction increases the incidence of medial meniscal bucket handle tears and medial compartment chondral injuries in patients aged 40 years and older.
No widely accepted evidence-based indications exist for the initial surgical management of patients with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries ≥ 40 years old, and treatment for these patients remains controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the association between elapsed time from ACL injury to surgery and the incidence of meniscal tears and chondral injury in patients aged ≥ 40 years. ⋯ Level III.
