Comparative StudyA prospective, comparative study of subacromial corticosteroid injection and subacromial corticosteroid injection plus suprascapular nerve block in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.
Efforts are recently focused on the management of shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS) with a conservative and targeted approach because of its psychosocial impact, reduction in the quality of life, the cost to the economy and its negative effect on daily activities. Therefore, many studies have been designed to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of different treatments. The main purpose of this study was to identify the effect of combination of subacromial corticosteroid injection (SCI) and suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) on shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS). ⋯ The combination of SCI and SSNB seems to produce the long-term effect in pain relief and functional improvement.

Comparative StudyMid-term clinical outcome comparison of long-stemmed monopolar osseointegrated and short-stemmed bipolar radial head prostheses.
Comparative data to guide implant choice for radial head replacements are lacking. Here, we compared the clinical results achieved using two different types of radial head prostheses. ⋯ Level III Retrospective comparative treatment study.

An alphanumeric classification of osteoporotic pelvic ring injuries.
Classification and management of osteoporotic pelvic ring injuries (OPRI) continue to pose a considerable challenge to orthopaedic traumatologists. The currently used fragility fractures of the pelvis (FFP) classification of OPRI has recently been shown to have significant weaknesses. The aim of this study therefore was to propose a new, simple, yet comprehensive alphanumeric classification (ANC) of OPRI and to assess its intra- and interobserver reliability. Furthermore, its potential advantages over the FFP classification are discussed. ⋯ The proposed ANC of OPRI demonstrated overall reliability comparable to that of the FFP classification. The ANC, however, is simple, more comprehensive, and consistently relates to injury severity.

Case ReportsSingle stage reconstruction of a neglected open book pelvic injury with bladder herniation into the upper thigh: a case-report.
When open-book injuries are neglected and result into a pelvic malunion or nonunion, long-term problems, such as chronic pain, gait abnormalities, sitting discomfort, neurological symptoms and urogenital symptoms can occur. In this case report, we describe the repair of a neglected pelvic disruption with the dislocation of the urinary bladder in a one-stage procedure. ⋯ The patient was thereafter continent for urine and could walk independently. A complex clinical problem was divided into its sub-problems, for which specific solutions were found.

Long-term outcomes after different types of Horne and Tanzer olecranon fractures.
It is unclear whether the outcomes differ after different Horne and Tanzer types of olecranon fractures. ⋯ All types of Horne and Tanzer olecranon fractures have favourable long-term outcome. Elbow joint space reduction is associated with inferior subjective elbow function while degenerative changes are not.
