Cementless ceramic-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasty in post-traumatic osteoarthritis after acetabular fracture: long-term results.
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is the standard procedure for post-traumatic osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip after acetabular fracture. However, it is not as simple as a primary THA, challenging the surgeon with anatomical deformity and intra and postoperative complications. In the current literature, there is a lack of studies reporting long-term results. May ceramic-on-ceramic (CoC) bearings provide good clinical and radiological outcomes at a long-term follow-up in patients undergoing THA following acetabular fracture? ⋯ The high survival rate may be related to CoC: no osteolysis and no infections were reported. Also acetabular cup loosening incidence was sensibly lower (1.47%) among loosening rate described by other authors. Clinical and radiological outcomes were decent, probably due to modular prosthesis design. Modular necks are a solution which can help achieving a proper functional reconstruction of the hip (offset, center of rotation), but should be avoided in young and overweight patients because of the high risk of fracture. CoC bearings in THAs in post-traumatic OA after acetabular fracture showed good results despite the fact that specific ceramic-related issues have to be considered.

Long-term results after internal partial forefoot amputation (resection): a retrospective analysis.
Internal partial forefoot amputation (IPFA) is a treatment option for osteomyelitis and refractory and recurrent chronic ulcers of the forefoot. The aim of our study was to assess the healing rate of chronic ulcers, risk of ulcer recurrence at the same area or re-ulceration at a different area and revision rate in patients treated with IPFA. ⋯ Retrospective Case Series Study (Level IV).

Injury epidemiology in men's professional team sports: is media analysis helpful?
Epidemiological injury surveillance in professional sports is often based on online media analysis in order to collect necessary data. However, the validation of this study protocol is lacking. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the validity of injury surveillance in men's professional team sports based on media reports. ⋯ For severe injuries, media analysis may be a sufficient method for data collection in popular men's professional ball sports. An underestimation of true injury prevalence lies within the range of previous reported investigations concerning the validation of injury surveillance methods. Non-severe injuries could not be verified via media analysis in professional handball and basketball.

Open-wedge high tibial osteotomy using intraoperative control of joint line convergence angle with reference to preoperative supine radiograph.
Preoperative supine joint line convergence angle (JLCA) correlates with postoperative standing JLCA. Here, we compared the radiographic and clinical outcomes of knees with preoperative JLCAs of ≥ 4° and < 4° in open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO). We hypothesized that the postoperative coronal alignment in both groups would not be affected by a change in JLCA if this change could predict before surgery. ⋯ Level III, retrospective comparative study.

The use of 2-octyl cyanoacrylate as an adjuvant to wound closure in total knee arthroplasty.
The efficacy of the use of 2-octyl cyanoacrylate (OCA) as an adjuvant to wound closure in preventing wound complications after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is rarely reported. This study was aimed to determine whether the use of OCA as a supplement to conventional wound closure reduces the incidence of wound complications following TKA. ⋯ III, retrospective, cohort study.
