Retrospective analysis of free temporoparietal fascial flap for defect reconstruction of the hand and the distal upper extremity.
Soft tissue reconstruction of the hand and distal upper extremity is challenging to preserve the function of the hand as good as possible. Therefore, a thin flap has been shown to be useful. In this retrospective study, we aimed to show the use of the free temporoparietal fascial flap in soft tissue reconstruction of the hand and distal upper extremity. ⋯ The free temporoparietal fascial flap is a useful tool in reconstructive surgery of the hand and the distal upper extremity with a low donor site morbidity and moderate rates of major and minor complications.

Minimum 5 year follow-up of clinical and radiographic results of cemented acetabular components with an interface bioactive bone cement technique in primary cemented total hip arthroplasty.
A well-fixed cement-bone interface is a crucial factor for acetabular and femoral components in cemented total hip arthroplasty (THA). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the middle-term clinical and radiological results of fixing the acetabular component with an interface bioactive bone cement (IBBC) technique in primary cemented THA. ⋯ Clinical and radiological results of the acetabular component with the IBBC technique in primary cemented THA were excellent.

Complications after surface replacing and silicone PIP arthroplasty: an analysis of 703 implants.
The aim was to analyse complications after surface replacing and silicone proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint arthroplasty. ⋯ We recommend using a surface replacing implant in fingers with preoperative axis deviations and correctable anatomical situation, bearing in mind the higher risk of a second surgery. However, treatment outcomes also need to be considered before choosing one implant over another.

Multicenter StudyCementation: for better or worse? Interim results of a multi-centre cohort study using a fenestrated spiral blade cephalomedullary device for pertrochanteric fractures in the elderly.
Cephallomedullary nail fixation is currently the most popular treatment for pertrochanteric fractures. Despite continuous improvement in implant design, fixation failures still occur in a concerning number of cases. This study aims to evaluate the effect of cement augmentation of the new-generation Trochanteric Femoral Nail Advanced (TFNA) perforated spiral blade on complications including fixation failure in the elderly population. ⋯ Cementation of TFNA blades may decrease risk of fixation failure, however, the surgeon must be aware of potential complications such as cement leakage into the hip joint and be able to manage them as they arise.

Case ReportsPatellofemoral ankylosis: case report and technical note.
It is our understanding that there is no consensual solution for the treatment of post-traumatic patellar ankylosis; therefore, the purpose of this work is to present two cases of patellofemoral retinacular interposition arthroplasty, and its corresponding technical note. CASE 1: Female, 24, patellar ankylosis secondary to supratranscondylar fracture, associated with comminuted diaphyseal tibia fracture. CASE 2: Female, 48, patellar ankylosis secondary to femoral diaphysis and lateral femoral condyle fracture. ⋯ Using our surgical technique, we were not able to restore normal function to our patients, but their improvement was certainly impressive relative to their initial clinical situation.
