Clinical outcomes of medial retinaculum plasty versus MPFL reconstruction with concomitant tibial tubercle transfer: a retrospective study.
To elucidate the clinical outcomes of medial retinaculum plasty versus MPFL reconstruction with concomitant tibial tubercle transfer. ⋯ The combined medial retinaculum plasty and tibial tubercle transfer achieved similar clinical outcomes versus the MPFL reconstruction with concomitant TTT. This therapeutic protocol was a good option in treatment of patellar dislocation with increased TT-TG distance or patella alta.

Observational StudyComplications of implant removal after healed hip fractures.
Osteosynthesis of pertrochanteric fractures is one of the most frequently performed procedures in orthopaedic trauma care. Auto-dynamization during fracture healing can lead to lateralization of the screw or blade. This can cause debilitating complaints, which sometimes necessitate the removal of the screw or blade. After removal of the implant, we observed spontaneous femoral neck fractures in five patients. This article presents an evaluation of these cases with reference to literature. ⋯ The clinical indications for implant removal in healed pertrochanteric fractures are not well established and should be restricted to specific cases. After removal of these implants without replacement partial weight-bearing should be advised strictly. Based on our findings it is recommended to replace the cephalomedullary nail with a shorter one, ideally combined with implant augmentation.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of triamcinolone acetonide on stiffness after surgical treatment of proximal humerus fractures: a randomized controlled study.
The primary aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness and safety of an intraarticular triamcinolone injection for the treatment of stiffness after the operative treatment of proximal humerus fractures. ⋯ Postoperative glenohumeral injection of triamcinolone is a safe and effective treatment modality for shoulder stiffness after internal fixation of proximal humerus fractures during the early period of rehabilitation.

Clinical outcome and failure analysis of medial meniscus bucket-handle tear repair: a series of 96 patients with a minimum 2 year follow-up.
The failure rate of meniscal repair remains significant, especially for bucket-handle tears. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes, failure rate and risk factors for failure of bucket-handle medial meniscal tear repairs performed during ACL reconstruction. ⋯ Despite the fact that failure rate remains high for medial meniscus bucket-handle tears, suture repair of bucket-handle tears should be encouraged taking into account the long-term consequences of menisectomy.

Clinical and radiological mid- to long-term results after direct fixation of posterior malleolar fractures through a posterolateral approach.
Direct fixation of posterior malleolar fractures has been shown to lead to higher accuracy of fracture reduction compared to an indirect anterior to posterior fixation but lacks long-term clinical results. This study shows the mid- to long-term clinical and radiological outcome after direct fixation of the posterior malleolus through a posterolateral approach. ⋯ Therapeutic Level IV. See Instructions for authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.
