"Cat and dog bite injuries of the hand: early versus late treatment".
Animal bites of the hand are common injuries in the emergency department. Serious complications may occur if those injuries are not treated adequately. The purpose of the study was to examine if there is a difference between the treatment of animal bite injuries at an early stage (first treatment within the first 24 h after injury, group I) versus a later stage (first treatment more than 24 h after injury, group II) retrospectively. ⋯ Level 3, therapeutic.

Should patients aged 75 years or older undergo medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty? A propensity score-matched study.
With increasing life expectancies worldwide, more elderly patients with isolated medial compartment osteoarthritis may become suitable UKA candidates. However, there is a paucity of literature comparing outcomes between older patients (≥ 75 years) and younger patients undergoing UKA. The aim of this study was to determine if there were differences in functional and HRQoL measures between older patients (≥ 75 years) and younger controls (< 75 years) undergoing primary UKA. ⋯ Our findings highlight the need to counsel older patients regarding potentially reduced improvements in functional outcomes, despite advantages of lower revision. However, UKA in older patients continues to be a viable option for isolated medial compartment osteoarthritis LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level III Propensity score matched study.

Efficacy of total hip arthroplasty after operatively treated acetabular fracture.
We evaluated the clinical and radiological outcomes of patients following total hip arthroplasty (THA) for acetabular fracture. ⋯ THA secondary to an operatively treated acetabular fracture provides good symptomatic relief, but shows relatively inferior survival rates, and clinical failure was related to post-traumatic arthritis with acetabular non-union.

Massive graft resorption after iliac crest allograft reconstruction for glenoid bone loss in recurrent anterior shoulder instability.
Donor site morbidity constitutes the most prevalent source of complications during anatomic glenoid reconstruction. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiologic results of arthroscopic anatomic glenoid reconstruction using an allogenic, tricortical iliac crest bone graft for glenoid bone loss in recurrent anterior shoulder instability. ⋯ Level IV, case series, therapeutic study.

Comparison of reverse dorsoradial flap for thumb reconstruction: narrow pedicle versus wide pedicle.
The reverse homodigital dorsoradial flap remains a useful alternative for covering thumb defects. However, the description of pedicle width of dorsoradial flap is not clear. The aim of this study was to compare the results of narrow pedicle with wide pedicle in dorsoradial flaps and describe our experience with the thumb reconstruction. ⋯ The reverse homodigital dorsoradial flap with narrow pedicle width is associated with more favorable outcomes in terms of time lost from work and aesthetic satisfaction of the patients.
